WWE: What’s Next for The Undertaker?
By Mark Justice
1.) Nobody
When the streak ended at WrestleMania 30, The Undertaker should have retired right there and then. His career was defined by that streak and it did not make much sense to continue his career after that, whether there was Saudi money on the table or not.
Some superstars in WWE just need to know when to stop while they are ahead and retire after ending it on a good note. Shawn Michaels made the same mistake when he ended his career against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 and later decided to do a tag team match in Saudi Arabia with Triple H against Brothers of Destruction (which was a travesty).
When Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, The Undertaker laid his hat and jacket in the center of the ring as a sign of retirement. Unfortunately, it was just a tease and he still returned one year later to battle John Cena at WrestleMania 34.
Now that The Undertaker stole the show with AJ Styles in a memorable Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36, he needs to retire to end his career on a solid note. If WWE fans remember that Undertaker’s very last match was that Oscar-worthy Boneyard Match, they would miss him.
They would see him as the long-lived legend he should be portrayed as well as a true Hall of Famer who knows when to push talent and hang up his boots. That is, a legend like him needs to go out. It is time for The Undertaker to ‘rest in peace’ (figuratively, not literally).
