WWE Raw Takeaways: This may be Asuka’s Backlash opponent
Do right by the IIconics
The IIconics reappeared on WWE television, interrupting A Moment of Bliss. Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss were giving their congrats to Becky Lynch, when Billie Kay and Peyton Royce decided to make their presence on WWE Raw felt.
Royce and Kay immediately went after the Women’s Tag Team Championships, which Bliss and Cross have held since defeating Asuka and Kairi Sane at WrestleMania 36. They even defeated Bliss and Cross in a non-title match immediately afterward.
WWE need to do right by the IIconics this time around. Last year, they messed up with the IIconics’ post-WrestleMania title reign, failing to write them properly as champions.
Kay and Royce are two of the best talkers on the roster, and with a little help from the writer’s room, they can play their roles effectively in the ring, too. The IIconics have been among the most loved and hated tag team acts in WWE over the past couple of years, but the main roster creative team needs to recapture their magic from NXT.
I have faith in the IIconics winning the championships later in 2020 and doing well for themselves with the titles, but I am even MORE #here for their feud with Cross and Bliss. This rivalry will show us if the creative team has figured out the best way to put the ball in the IIconics’ court, so to speak.
