The Charlotte Experiment Has Failed

I say this as a bigger fan of Charlotte Flair than most people tend to be these days. But if it is to be believed that the belt was put on Charlotte to bring in ratings to NXT in their quote-on-quote “Wednesday Night Wars” against AEW, that experiment has failed. Ratings for NXT continue to be low and stagnant with the show rarely (if ever) having larger numbers than AEW.

In fact, the only major change with this experiment is that we have seen Charlotte on virtually every episode of WWE TV (Raw and SmackDown included) since she won the belt. Which is a move that seems to have deterred fans from watching more so than bring them in.

All in all, it feels like the Charlotte Flair experiment and WWE’s plans for her is not working. The best option for them now may simply be to go back to square one. Square one, of course, being the previous champion, Rhea Ripley.

Rather than convince fans to fall in love with Charlotte (which seems all the more difficult to pull off when she’s in a perplexing tweener role), go back to trying to build an audience with the wrestler who the NXT Universe have already fallen in love with.
