WWE Backlash 2020 could offer some big surprises on Sunday night. Here are some bold predictions for what could happen.

Today’s the day. Well, depending on when you’re reading this, tomorrow’s the day, but as of this writing, today’s the day before the day of WWE Backlash 2020. What a day indeed, as the card is set to sport a hefty (checks notes) seven matches! What a supercard!

Okay, truthfully, the PPV card is easy to poke fun at and I have seen a lot of poking fun over on social media towards it – especially if we’re talking about the build for THE GREATEST WRESTLING MATCH … EVER (don’t worry, we’ll get to it) – but I feel like there’s a bigger picture here.

With us currently on the road to SummerSlam, a show – let’s call it a transitional PPV – like Backlash is more about creating big moments that will get us closer to forming the card of that event rather than the number of tomorrow’s matches or the quality of the matches.

And to get us into SummerSlam, that means WWE has to deliver some big moments. Some of those moments, however, may be bold in their delivery. Here are some examples that we may see tomorrow evening.

Randy Orton beats Edge in 5 seconds

Okay, this one is just wishful thinking that I continue to hold on to, because WWE doing this whole press run for The Greatest Wrestling Match … Ever, just to give us The Shortest Main Event … Ever, would make a hilariously entertaining troll job.

Granted, such a job may have already been debunked from being possible given that it has been confirmed by now that WWE filmed a lengthy, legit and apparently really good match between Edge and Randy Orton, but because I’m far too optimistic for my own good, I’m still hoping that WWE either took about five seconds to re-film a new match, or all of these rave reviews are all a part of the troll job.
