The moment that Sasha Banks and Bayley won the Women’s Tag Team Championships, we were quick to assume that these belts were somehow going to play a huge part in their inevitable breakup that continues to be teased. In fact, that may very well be the case with this second title reign, but this might happen much sooner than expected.

Most of us assumed when they won that Banks and Bayley would ride out a nice, long run with the belts and then we’ll get the chance to curse either Banks or Bayley’s sudden but inevitable betrayal. But character wise, would a turn be more impactful if their second reign wound up being even shorter than their first?

Let’s say that on Sunday, Banks – since in these breakup teases, it feels like Banks is more likely to be positioned as the babyface – gets herself pinned by Cross, Bliss, Royce, or Kay and Bayley is nowhere to be found. Bayley doesn’t re-emerge until she’s ready to berate Banks for taking the pin.

One of two things could happen next: Bayley attacks Banks out of frustration, or Banks attacks Bayley after not feeling like Bayley’s had her back one too many times. Either way, this starts a nice build towards a one-on-one title match that’s been overdue for about 90 years now.
