Minoru Suzuki vs. Yuji Nagata

This fight is so, so good. I’m still new to New Japan in terms of its long history versus what I’ve actually been able to watch since getting into it, but I know two things: Nagata and Suzuki have technically been rivals since high school, and the minutes-long open hand face slap exchange is a pillar of good wrestling matches, especially between veterans.

Both Suzuki and Nagata bring their best on a bad day, and in this match it’s no exception – they really beat the hell out of each other. I think that getting into the minutiae of this match wouldn’t be doing it any justice. This long match is all about these two ferociously testing each other’s limits, and wow do they. Watch it, please.

The ending surprised me, if I’m being honest, but it’s well-fought and well-deserved.
