5.) Santos Escobar

Santos Escobar, formerly known as El Hijo del Fantasma, is the current NXT Cruiserweight Champion. Although he was involved in that controversial Drake Maverick storyline, he used its steam to develop his own character and make the championship more prestigious than it has ever been in the process.

4.) Dexter Lumis

Dexter Lumis has remained quite relevant on NXT lately with his eerie appearances during the Undisputed Era’s matches as well as his bizarre drawings backstage. He has especially played mind games with Roderick Strong, who is now going through therapy to relieve himself of all the emotional and psychological distress he has experienced by being in Lumis’ presence. Lumis and Strong are scheduled for a Strap Match on this week’s NXT, which should conclude their feud. It seemed that Lumis would be targeting the NXT Tag Team Championships with his comrade, Velveteen Dream, but recent reports indicate that that may not be the case anymore.

3.) Karrion Kross (w/Scarlett Bourdeux)

Karrion Kross has not yet lost a match in NXT, which should set up a championship opportunity for him very soon. Defeating Tomasso Ciampa at NXT Takeover: In Your House is a big deal, so a championship should be in Kross’ future. Like Aleister Black from Raw and Bray Wyatt from SmackDown, he has that mystique to his character that would keep the fans invested for a long time. As is typical in WWE booking, that mystique translates to pure dominance in the ring, which Kross has showcased every week on NXT.

2.) Adam Cole

Adam Cole’s lengthy run as NXT Champion has been memorable, but there’s no doubt that his reign is now growing stale. It’s only a matter of time before he drops the belt and gets called up to the main roster with Roderick Strong, Kyle O’ Reilly, and Bobby Fish. He has done everything he could in NXT, and that’s undisputed.

1.) Keith Lee

Keith Lee is the current NXT North American Champion and the next big star in NXT. After defeating two former NXT Champions in Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor to retain the NXT North American Championship, he has earned a shot at becoming Keith 2 Belts in a ‘Winner Takes All’ Championship Match against Adam Cole on the July 8, 2020 episode of NXT. Lee has the full package to be the top babyface champion. The torch should be passed from Cole to Lee before Lee locks eyes with Kross in the near future.
