WWE Raw: 3 targets for Randy Orton to call out this week
Tommaso Ciampa
The final person for Randy Orton to feud with is a big star from NXT. It was WrestleTalk’s Louis Dangoor who first reported the Apex Predator’s desire to feud with a star from NXT, with Adam Cole and Tommaso Ciampa mentioned as two possible feuds for Orton.
Cole vs. Orton would be a dream match, but it’s hard to see Cole turning babyface. And I’m not sure he’s even going to leave NXT in 2020.
Ciampa, on the other hand, has nothing to do in NXT. It seems like he’s finished up with the brand, because there’s no sign of him doing anything creatively. The former NXT Champion has accomplished what he’s needed to accomplish on Triple H’s Wednesday night show. And he’s coming off big losses to Johnny Gargano and Karrion Kross.
Maybe Ciampa could feud with Orton. There are a lot of similarities between the two men in terms of their characters and their brutality inside the ring. But they are different in how they deliver promos and in the exact nature of their moves. Ciampa’s moves tend to be riskier, while Orton is an even smoother athlete.
For many WWE fans, Ciampa vs. Orton would be a dream match at SummerSlam, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen Ciampa. The Blackheart was a member of the Raw and SmackDown rosters last year, so a return is entirely plausible.
