WWE Raw needs a bad-ass babyface Shayna Baszler
Shayna Baszler has been a heel all this time, but a babyface turn on WWE Raw could help kickstart her main roster career.
On this week’s episode of WWE Raw, Shayna Baszler began a feud with Nia Jax, brawling with the former Raw Women’s Champion as the match was called off. The brawl offered a glimpse at a rivalry that could be one of Raw’s best mid-card feuds this summer, leading to a grudge match at SummerSlam on Aug. 23.
A week earlier, Baszler watched Kairi Sane wrestle Bayley and then got a chance to speak at length on the mic after the show on Raw Talk. Baszler was one of NXT’s best promos over the past couple of years, striking fear into the hearts of everyone else in the locker room with her collected, yet intense, delivery.
Often compared to Samoa Joe due to her rear-naked choke submission and verbose promos, Baszler could be headed for a babyface turn with this feud against Jax. After all, there’s no way anybody feuding with Nia can be a heel, given that the Force of Greatness is one of the easiest superstars to boo in the company.

And like Joe, Baszler can really shock people as a babyface on the main roster. I think she has all the tools to be a bad-ass babyface, just judging by the way she stood up to Nia and the promo she cut on Raw Talk after the show in the previous week.
Baszler was criticized by main roster fans for being boring, probably because some mistakes by the production team led to the main event of Survivor Series featuring Baszler, Becky Lynch, and Bayley shockingly underwhelming.
But Baszler redeemed herself in her feud with Lynch, who tried to go to bat for the Queen of Spades as a future champion at WrestleMania. Even in defeat, though, Baszler shined.
So she has the in-ring chops. Go back and watch how she put over Rhea Ripley or watch any of her matches with Sane, and then tell me she can’t wrestle.
That can translate into babyface work with time, and it makes it easier for her to fight from underneath and be a gritty, technical, never-say-die competitor against Nia Jax.
It’s all there for Shayna to go toe-to-toe with one of WWE Raw’s best heels. Nia is so great on the mic at getting a babyface over, and Shayna can really benefit as a babyface from working in the ring with her. Raw needs more mid-card women’s feuds, and Baszler vs. Jax could be one hell of a feud at SummerSlam, serving as a Raw career launching pad for the underrated Baszler.
