WWE Raw: What happens when RETRIBUTION goes Underground?

WWE Raw Underground and the faction RETRIBUTION are the latest ways the promotion intends to drum up interest, and these two worlds may just collide.

Vince McMahon has needed to make some changes and try new things to see what sticks in order to boost the ratings on WWE Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. So now we have a feud between Pat McAfee and Adam Cole, an underground “Fight Club” called Raw Underground, and a supposedly ANTIFA-inspired faction called RETRIBUTION. (Seriously, I cannot stand typing that out in all caps every time!)

We saw the first glimpse of the five (maybe there will be more?) members of RETRIBUTION on Raw last week, and it was quite hilarious how the first “hint” involved fans being told that boxes were mysteriously tipped over.

Thankfully, WWE at least tried a little harder on SmackDown, as the closing angle of the show involved the five members of RETRIBUTION taking over the ring and taking it down with a chainsaw. Yes, a chainsaw…

There’s a lot that can go wrong with this new faction, so most WWE fans are nervous. But many fans are also excited to see the company try something new with Underground and RETRIBUTION, because, hey, at least they are trying. I mean, they should really be pushing Mustafa Ali, building new stars, and booking performers better, but I guess this works, too?

It only makes sense for WWE Raw to raise the stakes

Anyway, it only makes sense for RETRIBUTION and WWE Raw Underground to collide in the same segment. Raw Underground is WWE’s new wild west where they’d like you to think anything goes and Dolph Ziggler and Erik will actually beat the living hell out of people. (I’d love to see Nia Jax there, actually.)

It’s now run by the Hurt Business following the closing moments of last week’s Raw, but why not have RETRIBUTION get in there and cause some trouble? Nobody knows if RETRIBUTION is heel, face, or something in between, but wouldn’t it be fun to have five bad-ass underdogs band together like a pack of wolves to take over WWE as an antihero faction? I mean, as fans were quick to point out, everyone in that SmackDown segment looked small, so that could fit in terms of the physical characteristics.

There’s a lot of speculation about how RETRIBUTION will be booked and how long Vince McMahon’s latest wild idea will last. But expect them to up the ante by making an even bigger impact on the upcoming episode of Raw, though it may be hard to top destroying the ring ropes with a freaking chainsaw.

An appearance on Raw Underground causing more chaos? Another hot main event angle? Destroying some more generators? Hell, maybe they will break down the entire Performance Center while we’re at it with all the speculation.

Whatever the case, I’m kind of excited to see what happens on WWE Raw this week with RETRIBUTION and Underground, especially if the promotion’s newest worlds meet.
