WWE has locked in a contract to run shows at the Amway Center, and that, combined with the new Thunderdome, could lead to Brock Lesnar’s return.

Brock Lesnar hasn’t been seen in WWE since dropping the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36, crowning the man who memorably Claymored him over the top rope in the Royal Rumble as Raw’s top male star.

According to a recent report from Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue, WWE doesn’t want Lesnar to appear at Performance Center shows, since they felt it would have hurt the power and mystique of the Beast Incarnate.

But now that WWE has locked in a contract to run their shows at the Amway Center in Orlando, reportedly paying nearly $500,000 to do so, they no longer have the issue of worrying about Lesnar being hurt as a character in the more niche Performance Center environment.

According to a report from WrestlingNews.Co’s Paul Davis, Vince McMahon is upbeat now that he’s secured a contract to run shows in a big arena and is implementing a “bells and whistles” feature with virtual fans and pyro called the “Thunderdome” (among other exciting features).

Not only does Davis report that Vince expects the ratings to go up as a result of these latest maneuvers, but he also added an interesting nugget. He says there is “speculation” within WWE that running shows at the Amway Center could open the door for big stars like Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to return.

Speculating about Reigns isn’t the best idea right now, since he has made it clear he is taking time off from wrestling to protect his family. But we have not heard from Lesnar. It’s impossible to know under what conditions Lesnar would want to return, but from WWE’s perspective about Lesnar as a draw and the character they portray him has, the Thunderdome and Amway Center do make his return seem a lot more likely.

Lesnar vs. McIntyre II is possible but highly unlikely. Still, Lesnar has been known to have amazing Survivor Series matches year after year against legends like Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan, and AJ Styles. So it’s worth keeping an eye on The Beast’s status.
