WWE Clash of Champions 2020 Predictions: Roman Reigns Will Seize RETRIBUTION

Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Randy Orton [WWE Championship: Ambulance Match]
Our Kevin Parvizi persuasively expatiated on three reasons why Randy Orton should win at Clash Champions 2020. With those three reasons in mind, it makes sense for Orton to win his tenth WWE Championship here. The fact that this is an ambulance match is a perfect excuse for Orton to win the championship through cunning, nefarious means. Besides, McIntyre would not look weak in defeat since he would not be submitting to or getting pinned by Orton.
Here’s how the finish to this match should be played out: McIntyre goes for the Claymore. Orton dodges the Claymore by sidestepping him as McIntyre inadvertently goes flying into the ambulance. Orton closes the door to locks McIntyre in the ambulance. This is a very similar finish to Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns’ Ambulance Match at WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017.
In that match, Roman attempted the Spear on Strowman but flew into the ambulance after Strowman dodged the Spear and closed the door to lock Reigns in the ambulance and win the match. It makes sense for Orton’s heel-like character and snake gimmick to win this way, leaving a sour taste in everyone’s mouth after playing possum for the majority of the match.
As for the counterargument, while there is a possibility that McIntyre wins here and turns heel on Keith Lee to start a feud with him at WWE Hell in a Cell 2020, Orton needs to win here to set up a more probable and exciting triple threat championship match that has been teased for the past few weeks with McIntyre and Lee at WWE Hell in a Cell 2020.
If he doesn’t, he would be losing twice to McIntyre within a month and thereby no longer be a credible threat in the championship picture for the next PPV, which would be asinine booking for the top heel on Raw. The age of Orton is near and he would be an ideal heel to put over the next top babyface in Keith Lee at either WWE Hell in a Cell 2020 or WrestleMania 37.
Prediction: Randy Orton
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso [Universal Championship]
Roman Reigns will win, but will he be the one who wrecks everyone and leave? This is not a multi-man match (NOT a triple threat and NOT a tag team match), so Reigns can’t hide backstage and wait for anyone in the match to beat each other up, right? He is facing Jey Uso in a one-on-one match, so he has to wrestle him, right? Not necessarily. There is a loophole.
In a similar manner to how CM Punk and Paul Heyman planned for The Shield to interrupt CM Punk’s championship matches while the lights were out during his 434-day title reign to help him retain, what if Reigns and Heyman similarly plan for RETRIBUTION to attack Jey Uso while the lights are out to allow Reigns to easily pick up the win and retain the Universal Championship?
Thanks to all the flickering lights lately (*insert ‘Hash Slinging Slasher’ Spongebob joke here*), it would not be too far fetched to see this finish take place. Also, pitting Reigns as the leader of RETRIBUTION would be pretty gnarly, to say the least. Alternatively, since RETRIBUTION is Raw-exclusive, ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt could also be the deciding factor in this match, especially since he has the Wobbly Walrus (*cough* Paul Heyman) as another pet in his FireFly Funhouse.
The lights could go off in a similar manner to allow Wyatt to attack Jey Uso and assure that Reigns retains the Universal Championship. Wyatt lost that championship to Reigns and his sadistic mindset would encourage him to help his own rival just to make sure that he battles him at WWE Hell in a Cell 2020, which would be an epic HIAC 2015 rematch between Reigns and Wyatt.
Prediction: Roman Reigns (thanks to RETRIBUTION or ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt)
