Roman Reigns didn’t wait until Sunday to send his Universal Championship opponent – and cousin – Jey Uso a message.

Ever since returning to WWE at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns has been on a mission. He immediately attacked Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt after their main event match at the second-biggest Pay Per View of the year, aligned himself with THE Paul Heyman, and won the title in a matter of seconds at Payback.

Now, Reigns is headed for his first title defense at Clash of Champions against real-life cousin Jey Uso, who just wanted some answers on the go-home episode of SmackDown. Jey noticed, watching the footage after the show, that Reigns gave him a death stare after Jey walked out of the ring when they won a tag match.

Paul Heyman promised Jey an answer later that night.

Jey’s answer? Roman told him straight-up that he is “The Guy” to lead the way and feed the family. As much as Jey wants to be that guy and as much as he believes in himself and his ability to beat Reigns on Sunday, Roman made it clear that Jey will never be that guy.

Roman Reigns hit Jey Uso with a Superman Punch

And he didn’t just send that message verbally. He sent it physically, too. As Jey walked up the ramp, proud of his fighting words and for standing up for himself, Reigns blindsided him with a Superman Punch.

As Jey lay there without moving, Reigns got in his face and held the Universal Title in front of him. Reigns let it all out, yelling that HE is the one to feed the entire family. He needs to be the one to be the Universal Champion to not only feed his own kids, but to support Jey’s kids and everyone else in the Bloodline.

It was an incredible moment, but it was definitely a heel moment from this new Reigns. He attacked his own family member without him even looking, taking him out before the Pay Per View and basically saying that he was less than him. On some level, what Reigns said had truth to it, but it was a brutal truth.

Sunday is going to be a ton of fun. Jey is stepping up like we knew he would, and he’s going to give Roman Reigns everything he has.
