WWE Survivor Series 2020: World Champions Showcase

Tri-Branded World Champions Triple Threat Match: WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. NXT Champion Finn Balor

Finally, we have what seems most likely to be the main event of WWE Survivor Series 2020. Last year, the only “Champion vs. Champion vs. Champion” showcase that we didn’t get to see was the one featuring the top champion from each brand, and we can likely thank then-WWE Champion Brock Lesnar for that.

On the contrary, this year we have three champions who would likely be ready and willing to go to war like this. While “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns might not be too jazzed in-character by the idea of defending the supremacy of SmackDown (or Raw, should he get moved to that brand during the 2020 WWE Draft), it’s not far-fetched to see Reigns wanting to prove his dominance as the undeniable top champion in all of WWE.

Meanwhile, we have WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Since defeating Brock Lesnar for the title at WrestleMania 36, McIntyre has strived to be the fighting champion many wanted to see in Brock Lesnar. Even during the tough creative times that WWE has seen due to the ongoing global pandemic, Drew McIntyre has constantly put out quality matches and gone up against every challenger that’s come his way.

Some of those challengers even found a way to take him on for the title more times than they really deserved, but every time McIntyre proved his skill once again and put them down with a Claymore. Finally, we have current NXT Champion Finn Balor.

Now in his second reign as NXT Champion, Finn Balor is looking to prove himself as the greatest champion the brand has ever seen. While Adam Cole is the longest-reigning NXT Champion of all time, there’s a real argument to be made that Balor’s initial run with the title was stronger and more crucial to the growth of the brand.

Putting Finn Balor, a former Universal Champion and now two-time NXT Champion, in the ring with Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Drew McIntyre provides Balor an opportunity to show how valuable he can be to WWE NXT. On top of all the storyline implications for each champion, this is just a flat-out potentially amazing contest. This would be a must-see main event.
