NXT TakeOver: Women’s WarGames Match

Team Shotzi (Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, and Io Shirai) vs. Team Candice (Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez, and Toni Storm)

In the first WarGames Match of the night, we’ve got the culmination of tensions between Shotzi Blackheart and Candice LeRae. The issues between these two have been boiling for some time, and the breaking points were surely LeRae vicious and heinous destruction of Pocket the Tank and Blackheart’s role at NXT Halloween Havoc when LeRae lost her match against Io Shirai for the NXT Women’s Championship.

As of this week we’ve confirmed the members of Team Candice, as we saw the shocking heel turn of Toni Storm on Ember Moon. That likely sets the stage for Ember Moon to join Team Shotzi, and it would be great to round things out with Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai, who have both not been far from everything going on here.

Ultimately, regardless of how the teams come out, this is going to be an instant classic. NXT arguably has the best women’s division in wrestling right now, and that’ll be on display here in a moment where we should see Shotzi Blackheart get revenge for the devastating death of Pocket the Tank.

Prediction: Team Shotzi

NXT TakeOver: Men’s WarGames Match

The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, and Roderick Strong) vs. Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch

In what will likely be the night’s main event, we’ve got the ongoing rivalry between Pat McAfee and Adam Cole likely, hopefully, coming to a final conclusion. The issues between these two date back to the build NXT TakeOver 30 in August, and that show saw Pat McAfee have a respectable debut despite his loss to Adam Cole.

Since then, we’ve now seen Pat McAfee make a shocking return by targeting The Undisputed Era and joining forces with Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch, and Pete Dunne. Despite McAfee’s declaration that he’d killed The Undisputed Era, they seemed plenty alive and have now set the stage, thanks to William Regal, for WarGames.

While McAfee is the obvious odd man out here with extremely limited experience, he’s in there with arguably some of the best technicians and workers in the industry. Adam Cole carried him to a great singles match, and there’s plenty of people here that will make up for his inexperience and turn this into a great contest where The Undisputed Era takes their first WarGames win since 2017.

Prediction: The Undisputed Era
