2.) Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton [Royal Rumble Showcase]

On last week’s WWE Raw, Keith Lee asked Triple H if he could fight Randy Orton in the main event to save Triple H the trouble. Triple H refused because he started that mess and wanted to end it. This interaction could set up a WWE Payback 2020 rematch between Lee and Orton. However, this match needs stakes to up the ante: If Orton loses, he also loses his spot to Lee in the Royal Rumble. WWE would do this for two reasons.

First, WWE has already made it clear that superstars like Drew Gulak, who has not won any noteworthy championships on the main roster, cannot simply announce themselves in the Royal Rumble. Instead, those superstars have to earn the spot by defeating a former world champion, which Gulak failed to do against AJ Styles. Lee, unfortunately, falls in that category, so he has to defeat a former world champion in Orton to qualify for the Royal Rumble match as well.

Secondly, there have been rumors that Orton’s scheduled appearance in the Royal Rumble is a red herring in order to set up a Firefly Funhouse Match with Bray Wyatt. If that is the case, booking Lee to take Orton’s Royal Rumble spot would be a sensible idea. Lee is a favorite to win the Royal Rumble and potentially earn a WWE Championship rematch against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania, so he needs to be in the Rumble this year.

1.) Asuka (c) vs. Alexa Bliss [Non-Title Match]

Speaking of Orton, expect him to wear an eyepatch after Alexa Bliss’ fire-bending got the best of him on last week’s WWE Raw. Indeed, Bliss actually shot a fireball from the palms of her hands at Orton’s face in the main event of last week’s show. If there was ever an ideal time to bring back the WWE Great Balls of Fire PPV, it would be now. Now, the real question is: Could Bliss fire-bend her way to a title opportunity?

Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender would approve her fire-bending skills, and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z would approve her kinetic hand motions. More importantly, Vince McMahon would approve her main event push after the widespread attention she received from her fireball stunt. The signs clearly show that Bliss could very well pick up a non-title victory here to earn a championship opportunity at WWE Royal Rumble 2021.

Of course, there’s always a chance that WWE fails to strike while the iron is ‘hot’ and book an abysmal non-finish, such as Orton interfering to deliver an RKO to Bliss. There have also been rumblings about Asuka bringing back her ‘Kana’ character since that character is as dark as Bliss’ current gimmick with The Fiend. However, that sounds too good to be true for even WWE to pull off. Why light a fire they can’t put out? Stay tuned.
