WWE: Five potential opponents for the returning Seth Rollins
Big E
Since WWE moved the three members of The New Day to separate shows in last October’s WWE Draft, fans who were heartbroken over the decision at least hoped that Big E’s long-awaited singles push would come out of this.
Fast forward to January, and, thus far, Big E is very much on track to become a breakout star, which was further emphasized with his Intercontinental Title win over Sami Zayn this past holiday season.
So far, Big E has primarily fended off Zayn and Apollo Crews’ challenges for his title, but for Big E to get to the next step towards the top of the card, he has to face someone who isn’t a conspiracy theorist lacking in in-ring credibility or an undercard guy who has become another example of how WWE underutilizes talent.
He needs someone like Seth Rollins.
The story wouldn’t need to be too complex; Rollins could simply go after Big E’s title under the pretense of wanting to win the IC Title to help “lead SmackDown to greater heights” or whatever nonsense reasoning he uses. He could even lean on his past reigns as IC Champion to add some more weight to those goals.
But, ultimately, this would be a feud where Rollins would lend his equity as a top star to an ascending babyface, which makes this matchup feel even more inevitable than it already does.
