WWE booking has worn out Drew McIntyre’s welcome

Is The Scottish Psychopath on the verge of getting heat from the WWE Universe due to a creative lag?
Drew McIntyre went through a lot before he became the face for Monday Night Raw. The Chosen One was once an Intercontinental Champion and a member of the group 3 Man Band (3MB), where he partnered with former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and The Man Who Has Kids, Heath Slater. If you follow wrestling, you know what happened to him. WWE released Drew in 2014, and The Scottish Psychopath worked in the independent circuit.
He returned to the wrestling juggernaut in 2017 and worked in NXT before moving up to the main roster. He became the NXT Champion during his time in the third brand and then became a member of Monday Nights as part of the Superstar Shakeup in 2018. Two years allowed him to be a star who was always on television, whether it be as a henchman to Shane McMahon or any other character until 2020 came around. The pandemic may have swerved people’s plans, but it went the other way for The Scottish Warrior.
Drew turned babyface and a contender for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship. The Beast Incarnate decided to start the Men’s Royal Rumble match at an event of the same name, but Drew Claymored his way to victory. The challenger got ready for his opportunity, and when the time came, he shined his way to becoming the new WWE Champion at WrestleMania 36 with people cheering him from the comfort of their home.
It was a long journey since his win as he faced various challengers on his way before Goldberg challenged him for the championship at the Royal Rumble Event. The Iconic superstar lost to the Champion, but Drew McIntyre lost the title after Bobby Lashley attacked him following an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. The Miz cashed in his Money In The Bank contract and became the new Champion before losing it to The All Mighty and current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
McIntyre has been on the hunt for the title since he lost it and has had unsuccessful attempts at WrestleMania 37 and WrestleMania Backlash. He is the challenger for the championship at the next pay-per-view Hell In A Cell, and it looks like history would repeat itself. WWE is mongering the idea that this would be a great show and a great match but hasn’t McIntyre got enough opportunities to his credit.
It is good when you want to push a superstar, and he has credible reasons for the push, but trying to put one person over and over and over again is like doing the same thing and expecting different results. WWE should have learned their lesson with the constant push of Roman Reigns and how the fans rejected the idea. A mistake happens once, but if it’s repeated, then that’s deliberate, and it looks like WWE wants to use the bandwagon despite knowing the impact of their move.
Drew McIntyre will have a time and place when he should be in the championship storyline, but trying to put it to the fans when they are not ok with it is like trying to put your foot forward without listening to the voice that matters the most, the WWE Universe. Drew shouldn’t be worn out at this time because doing so will make him look bad, and this will relegate him.
WWE can push Kofi Kingston in the mean as the fans want to see another KofiMania. Kingston continues to impress fans with his time in the New Day. Drew can support Kofi or turn on him at a later date to add depth to his character, but putting him in the WWE Championship storyline is not the right move at this time.
