3 NXT Superstars Who Need A Main Roster Call Up

The WWE welcomed back their beloved WWE Universe on Friday, July 16th on Friday Night SmackDown. After multiple superstars were released during the ‘Pandemic Era’, it’s now time for some superstars to be called up from NXT. I chose 3 superstars in particular to receive that prestigious call-up.

Pete Dunne

After being NXT United Kingdom Champion for 685 days (2nd longest reign behind current champion Walter), The “Bruiserweight” made the move from NXTUK to NXT. Although he has not been given a fair shot as a singles competitor in NXT because of the stable that was formed with Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. The main roster call-up to either RAW or SmackDown would give a huge boost by adding Dunne to their brand.

Adam Cole

The former leader of the Undisputed Era is long overdue for a main roster call-up. After turning his back on what is easily the greatest faction in all of NXT, Cole would go head to head with former tag partner Kyle O’Reilly with an even 1-1 series against each other. Ever former member of the Undisputed Era deserves their shot on the main roster but with Kyle O’Reilly focusing on bigger and better things in NXT, Roderick Strong leading the brand new Diamond Mine faction, and Bobby Fish doing absolutely nothing, it’s only fitting that Adam Cole receives that call-up any day now.

Finn Balor

Let’s try this again. After being called up to the main roster during the 2016 WWE Draft, Finn Balor was easily the most promising talent. When he captured the Universal Championship at SummerSlam in 2016, a little over one month after his main roster debut, he was forced to relinquish that championship due to a shoulder injury he suffered the night before. On October 2, 2019, Finn Balor did something that most superstars on the main roster do.

He went back to NXT. Balor’s move to NXT was easily the best move for his career going forward as he would capture the NXT Championship for the second time against Adam Cole. Balor lost the title to current champion Karrion Kross, ending his 212-day reign. He would get his rematch on the May 25th edition of NXT but would fall short. He has not been on live television since his second loss to Karrion Kross which means he should be gearing up for another main roster run. The number of dream matches I see him in is endless.
