Fans are waiting for AEW All Out, holding their breath in the hope of a huge surprise return to wrestling for CM Punk. Rumors are boiling at the moment that CM Punk is set to return to professional wrestling. The speculation is also suggesting that AEW will be Punk’s destination.

Punk, who features in the new ‘Heels’ pro-wrestling series on August 15th on Starz, sat down with the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast (h/t Wrestling INC). He discussed a number of topics, including his original talks with AEW’s Tony Khan:

"“Yeah, I talked to Tony. You know, my perception on this, and I said this to Tony, to his face at that time… I’m a guy who has constantly heard, ‘Hey I got a money guy, hey I got TV.’ I’ve heard that at least once or twice a year for 15-20 years of my wrestling career. I’ve gotten bounced checks from those gentlemen. You watched it happen, especially after ECW folded, it was everybody was re-starting ECW, everybody was going to be the ECW guys.” CM Punk said."

Punk continued

"“So, I more or less took a wait-and-see approach. And I wasn’t, or I am not, interested in pro wrestling, in that respect. We’re here, we’re talking about ‘Heels’ and it just so happened, maybe it could be back luck that the next role I got is set in the world of professional wrestling, but you know, that’s the way the cookie crumbles. I’m focused on bring an actor, and just like I was when i was a wrestler, focused on being the best I could be, I’m focused on being the best actor I could be.” CM Punk said."

Is CM Punk teasing us?

CM Punk has made it clear that he is focusing on his acting career, or is he? It’s true, not to take all interviews as gospel. Punk has been successful in the movie world recently, especially in the horror niche. He now has an appearance on a fictional pro-wrestling series upcoming. One thing is for sure, that Punk will have shaken off any ring rust by performing in his new series.

Whether he will show up in Chicago in a few weeks for AEW remains to be seen, but all eyes are on the Second City Saint at the moment to see his next move.

AEW is making changes to angles

AEW has made recent changes to current storylines that hint at the idea of Punk’s arrival in the promotion. For example, Adam “Hangman” Page was initially scheduled to face Kenny Omega for the AEW World Heavyweight title, but those plans changed. Christian Cage is now slotted to face Omega, in a move that is speculated to occurred to ensure that Page’s title win isn’t overshadowed by the return of a major figure like Punk. At Wednesday’s edition of AEW Dynamite, fans were loudly chanting for Punk and Daniel Bryan’s famous “Yes” movement, showing that they are clearly ready for the emergence of the two fan favorites.
