Recently released WWE Hall of Famer ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair made an appearance at AAA’s TripleMania XXIX last night in Mexico City.

Flair accompanied former WWE superstar Andrade el Idolo to the ring for his match against Kenny Omega for AAA Mega Championship. Of course, Andrade is currently engaged to Ric Flair’s daughter, Charlotte Flair.

‘The Nature Boy’ got physical during the match, which saw him deliver chops and also lock Omega’s manager for the night, Konnan, in the figure-four leg lock.

This was Flair’s first wrestling appearance since being released from WWE on the weekend of Aug. 1.

Roy Lucifer, who is a well-known pro-wrestling historian noted via his Twitter ‘This is Flair’s first official appearance for a Lucha promotion. He was announced in 1982 for the CMLL Anniversary show and arrived in Mexico, but rumor is rival promoter Carlos Maynes told the commission Flair didn’t have his work visa and he wasn’t allowed to wrestle that night.

Ric Flair has still got it

It is sad to see that Ric Flair departed ways with WWE in the way it happened. On the flip side, it is amazing to see Flair tick off some bucket list moments, by appearing for the first time ever in a Lucha Libre promotion. To see Flair get physical, too, was awesome to see and shows what WWE could’ve had by keeping Flair around and providing him with some meaningful stories.

It is likely Flair will continue to manage Andrade in the future, which of course means Flair will eventually land at All Elite Wrestling. AEW has been known more recently for treating the legends of the industry much better than WWE have been doing.

Here’s hoping to see more of ‘The Nature Boy’ deliver more chops and lock in that figure-four leg lock, and making more special memories for wrestling fans to enjoy.
