WWE SmackDown Results 09/10/2021 – Live from Madison Square Garden

The show kicks off with a video package reflecting on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. Pat McAfee is back alongside Michael Cole after missing the previous two weeks due to COVID.

The Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, makes his entrance with Paul Heyman and the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos, by his side. Reigns wants MSG to acknowledge him and they appear to oblige. The MSG crowd is on fire tonight. Reigns says the Bloodline run New York, MSG and WWE.

Brock Lesnar then makes his way to the ring to a huge ovation. Lesnar stirs the pot by questioning Paul Heyman why he didn’t tell Roman Reigns he was going to be at SummerSlam. Heyman is still adamant he didn’t know.

Reigns and The Uso’s leave the ring leaving Heyman behind. Lesnar tries to force Heyman to accept his challenge to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Lesnar tries to lift Heyman up for the F5, but the Bloodline try and attack Lesnar, but Brock sends the Bloodline out of the ring. MSG loved every second of that.

Backstage, Paul Heyman appears to be reunited with the Bloodline. Heyman confirms that Roman Reigns will answer Brock’s challenge when he is ready.

Big E, King Nakamura, Rick Boogs, Dominik Mysterio & Rey Mysterio  vs. Sami Zayn, Apollo Crews, Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler and Otis w/ Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, Commander Azeez & Chad Gable

A chaotic last few moments of the match, with Trae trying to get involved. Trae was sent to the back by the referee to the delight of the New York crowd. Mr Money in the Bank, Big E, delivered a Big Ending to Sami Zayn to pick up the victory for his team.

Winners: Big E, King Nakamura, Rick Boogs, Dominik Mysterio & Rey Mysterio

A post-match in-ring interview is conducted with Big E. Big E cuts a great fired up promo teasing about when he will cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Bianca Belair makes her way to the ring for the SmackDown Women’s Championship Contract Signing for Extreme Rules. Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are also in the ring. Bianca initially talks about the respect she had for Becky Lynch, and how now she doesn’t respect her as much as she did.

Bianca signs the contract. Lynch makes her way to the ring rocking a red fur coat. Becky gets overconfident with herself and questions what would happen if she didn’t sign it. She then gets agitated and seems angry with how the fans are treating her. MSG chants for Bianca. Lynch eventually gives in and signs and throws the contract at Bianca and exits.

Backstage, Paul Heyman is interviewed again to reveal Roman Reigns will answer the challenge of Brock Lesnar later tonight. Big E then appears and holds up his Money in the Bank briefcase and gets excited.

Edge vs. Seth Rollins in a SummerSlam rematch

Another epic clash between two of the best on top of their game. It will go down as an MSG classic. The match spanned over two commercial breaks, and had the WWE Universe hooked from the get-go.

Edge wore black and pink wrestling gear which looked like a tribute to Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart. Late in the match, Rollins low-blowed Edge, and after multiple superkicks with Edge on his knees and a stomp, Rollins defeats Edge. EMT’s immediately make their way to the ring after the match. Rollins looked surprised and couldn’t quite believe what he had done.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Backstage, Edge is shown on a stretcher and wheeled into the back of an ambulance. Rollins is interviewed after watching the ambulance drive off. Rollins seems lost for words and isn’t sure how to feel about it.

Backstage we cross to Roman Reigns’ locker room. Reigns gives The Usos a pep talk before their tag team title defence. Reigns then turns to Heyman and says that he saved Heyman. Reigns asks Heyman why he didn’t tell him Brock was going to be at SummerSlam.

The Uso’s (c) vs. The Street Profits – WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Midway through the match, Universal Champion Roman Reigns makes his way down to the ring. He appears to be concerned that The Street Profits are gaining momentum in the match. Montez Ford also loses a shoe and shows off his incredible athleticism. The Street Profits were seconds away from winning when Roman Reigns interferes and the referee Charles Robinson rings the bell.

Winners: The Street Profits via disqualification – no title change

Reigns grabs the microphone and says that he’s going to smash Brock Lesnar as soon as he has done smashing Finn Balor. Reigns faces Balor for the Universal Title at Extreme Rules. The lights go out in Madison Square Garden and The Demon Finn Balor makes his appearance. Balor’s alter ego has returned. He enters the ring and has a staredown with Reigns.

Next. Naomi as the top heel on the SmackDown roster would be a fitting change. dark
