One of the main criticisms around All Elite Wrestling has been the booking of its women’s division. In recent months the promotion has taken steps to improve in that space, but as with many areas in sports and entertainment – there’s still room for more. The stage has been set for the TBS Women’s Title Tournament to be a big boost for not only the women involved but the entire division.
The tournament bracket was revealed on Friday and the setup has already generated interest for what will come next. The nice touch of creating first-round byes for Thunder Rosa, Jade Cargill, Nyla Rose, and Kris Statlander makes it even more clear that every match has stakes, regardless of its position on Dynamite, Dark, Rampage, or Dark Elevation.

Then, the names involved in this tournament also help spark excitement. While some have questioned, where is Big Swole, the preliminary pairings not only look like good matches, but they will continue on developing stories within the women’s division, outside of the title picture. That’s a key piece of booking that is missed by even the largest promotions in wrestling.
While all this is going on, Britt Baker has played her part in diminishing the value of the title just enough to create a future angle between her and the eventual champion. How that will be handled is a challenge within itself, but the fact that Baker is already mentioning the belt makes it clear that fans should recognize it as important as well.
