The free agency race continues to be a major talking point in professional wrestling. WWE was able to secure another big name as news broke on Thursday that Sami Zayn has re-signed with the company.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Zayn’s deal was coming due but the company was able to secure his talents with another multi-year deal. According to their sources WWE made it clear that they wanted to keep him a part of the promotion, and the negotiations were kept private.

Along with Kevin Owens, this is a big move for the WWE who keeps Zayn on their roster at a time where many of the top and fan-favorite names are leaving for other opportunities. Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, and Kyle O’Reilly are just three examples of individuals who opted out of returning to the WWE when their deals came to a close.

At 37-years of age, Zayn has put together a widely successful career both in and out of the WWE. He’s a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, along with holding the NXT Championship. Before that, he won a multitude of titles in companies like PWG, Ring of Honor, and DDT. He’s currently involved in a “feud” of sorts with Johnny Knoxville of Jackass fame, heading into the 2022 edition of the Royal Rumble.
