WWE SmackDown Results February 4: Goldberg returns, Ronda Rousey appears

WWE SmackDown results live from Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. WWE has announced that Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, will be rejoined by Paul Heyman following his actions at the Royal Rumble event. Ronda Rousey makes her first-ever appearance on the blue brand to decide which women’s title she will challenge for at WrestleMania. Drew McIntyre will also return to SmackDown for the first time since December 2021 after he was taken out at WWE Day 1 but returned during the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

WWE SmackDown Results – February 4, 2022

A recap is shown from the Royal Rumble event last Saturday night, focusing on Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman screwing Brock Lesnar in his WWE Championship match against Bobby Lashley, then Lesnar entering the Men’s Royal Rumble match and winning.

We cross live to the arena in Oklahoma City as Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, heads to the ring with Paul Heyman and SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Uso’s. We are then shown a recap of the Universal Championship match from last Saturday with Roman getting disqualified against Seth Rollins. Paul Heyman introduces himself and says he is here to tonight serve as special counsel to The Tribal Chief. Heyman says they are here tonight to acknowledge what really happened, some uncomfortable truths. Heyman says there was no conspiracy.

Heyman says that he acknowledged that he made the biggest mistake of his career when he told Roman Reigns that he needed to be protected from Brock Lesnar. Heyman says this is honestly what he thought. Heyman says he deserved every bit of what Roman Reigns gave him. Heyman said he thought he was career was over and says he saw an opportunity. Heyman then says he got Brock Lesnar into the WWE Championship at WWE Day 1. Roman Reigns appeared to be looking a little confused as he continues to listen to Heyman ramble on about Brock Lesnar but seemed to shrug it off.

Heyman said he screwed up with The Tribal Chief and says he was stuck with Brock Lesnar who just wants to take everyone to Suplex City. Heyman says that a GOAT can always slay the beast. Heyman says we will never hear the introduction for Brock Lesnar ever again. Heyman says when Roman smashed Lesnar last Saturday, he realized at that moment he needed to protect Brock Lesnar from Roman Reigns. Heyman says Roman offered him the hand of forgiveness and love. He says Roman offered him the hand of acknowledgment.

Heyman says we all have to acknowledge that there will be no title vs. title match at WrestleMania. Heyman says that at WrestleMania Brock Lesnar will acknowledge the champion, Roman Reigns. Heyman then tells Brock this is how it is done. Heyman looks at Roman Reigns and acknowledges him as his Tribal Chief. Roman smiles. Heyman tells Oklahoma City to acknowledge the Tribal Chief. Goldberg’s music then hits and he makes his way out to the ring.

The fans chant “Goldberg” as he stands in the ring with a microphone. Goldberg says that he acknowledges Roman Reigns. He says he acknowledges Roman Reigns as his next victim. Goldberg then challenges Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the Elimination Chamber event. Goldberg tells Roman Reigns he’s next.

Ricochet w/ Cesaro vs. Ridge Holland w/ Sheamus

After Ridge Holland dominated for the majority, Ricochet managed to score the pin and defeat him. The match lasted just a few minutes. Ridge Holland and Sheamus were not happy with the outcome.

Winner: Ricochet via pinfall

Ricochet & Cesaro vs. Sheamus & Ridge Holland

After we get back from a commercial, a tag team match is underway between the teams stemming from the outcome of the last match. In the end, Ridge Holland finishes the match with the Northern Grit finisher to pin Cesaro to claim a big win for the duo.

Winners: Ridge Holland & Sheamus via pinfall

A video was shown highlighting the upcoming release of WWE 2k22.

SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso w/ Jey Uso vs. Erik w/ Ivar

It is announced that The Uso’s will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Viking Raiders at Elimination Chamber. The match ends fairly quickly when Jimmy Uso hits the Uso Splash to pick up the win.

Winner: SmackDown Tag Team Champion, Jimmy Uso via pinfall

We are then shown a recap of Aliyah’s recent rise on SmackDown with her matches against Natalya. She is currently undefeated on the blue brand.

Aliyah vs. Natalya

This was more a competitive match than we’ve seen the previous two occasions they have fought. However, Aliyah eventually picked up the win as Natalya was counted out of the ring. Natalya was beating down Aliyah on the outside, but Aliyah snuck into the ring at the last moment.

Winner: Aliyah via count-out

Backstage, Shotzi is then shown on her phone and is approached by Drew Gulak. Drew McIntyre is then shown walking past with his sword, Angela, and he’s on his way to the ring.

Drew McIntyre’s music hit and he makes his way to the ring. A recap is shown of Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss taking him out at WWE Day 1 and his return at the Royal Rumble eliminating them both. Drew says it’s great to be back. Drew says that a doctor told him that he wasn’t going to make the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania after WWE Day 1. Drew told the doctor to kiss his ass and he worked himself hard to return. McIntyre says his focus right now is on Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss.

Happy Corbin then makes his way out. Corbin asks Drew if it was worth it. He asks him if it was worth it to come back and be thrown out of the Rumble match by Brock Lesnar like a bag of garbage. Moss tries to sneak into the ring, but he saw it, and Drew raised his sword. Drew asks Madcap Moss to tell a joke in the ring. Moss tries to tell an Oklahoma joke, but Drew wants him to tell a Drew joke. Moss then tells a lousy joke. Drew isn’t impressed but Corbin is laughing. Drew begins to laugh and throws his sword down, but then hits Madcap with a Claymore. Drew says he’s going to make Happy Corbin’s life hell every single week and this is just the beginning.

A video is then shown of Sami Zayn appearing at the Jackass Forever red carpet event, and Sami being thrown out by Johnny Knoxville.

Backstage, Sami Zayn is complaining to Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville. Zayn says he’s still waiting for his Intercontinental Championship match that he’s owed from Christmas. Sonya suggests next week. Zayn says he might not be ready, so they suggest February 18. Sami agrees. Pearce suggests inviting Johnny Knoxville and Sami is not impressed. Natalya then enters and requests a pinfall or submission match with Aliyah next week. Sonya agrees to it.

Rick Boogs is now on the stage and introduces himself. He then introduces Intercontinental Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura, who is in action next against Jinder Mahal.

Sami Zayn makes his way out before the match begins. He joins Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on commentary. We get a back-and-forth match between Nakamura and Jinder Mahal, as Sami complains throughout the match on commentary. Nakamura eventually picks up the win with a Kinshasa.

It is revealed that Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg for the Universal Championship is now official for Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia.

A video is shown of Sonya Deville eliminating Naomi from the Women’s Rumble match last Saturday.

Backstage, Naomi approaches Sonya Deville. Naomi wants to meet Sonya in the ring in five minutes. Sonya suggests that she will face SmackDown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair, with the title on the line, next week. Naomi doesn’t believe her, but Adam Pearce gives his word and makes the match.

Backstage, Kayla is joined by Nalaya. Natalya is asked to preview next week’s match. She says she’s going to go right to Aliyah right now. Xia Li then exits the women’s locker room and Natalya has second thoughts.

Big E & Kofi Kingston vs. Los Lotharios

Big E is officially back on SmackDown now after some confusion last week about whether he actually was or not. A video is also shown of The New Day interrupting Los Lotharios’ backstage photoshoot earlier today. Los Lotharios are in firm control as we head to a commercial break. In the end, Big E picked up the win for his team after Los Lotharios almost snatched it. The best match of the night, by far.

A video is shown of Ronda Rousey returning to WWE in the Women’s Royal Rumble match last Saturday and winning the contest, lastly eliminating Charlotte Flair.

SmackDown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair, makes her way to the ring. Sonya Deville is also in the ring. Sonya said she had a prior conversation with Becky Lynch. Lynch says that Ronda Rousey has challenged her the RAW Women’s Title at WrestleMania. Sonya says Charlotte will need a WrestleMania opponent if she beats Naomi next week. Sonya gives her the floor to choose her opponent. Charlotte says she has been here and the best since 2015.

Charlotte Flair says that she would be worried for Ronda Rousey if she didn’t pick Becky Lynch. Charlotte says she hasn’t been this confident in herself before and she is the main event of WrestleMania. Charlotte says if Ronda wants to pick the undercard then she can do it and have a mother vs. mother match. Charlotte then asks the fans who she should pick as her opponent for WrestleMania. Charlotte says she will pick someone who isn’t here tonight: Sasha Banks. Charlotte says WrestleMania will be the best and worst day of Sasha’s life and she will have a contract waiting for her.

Ronda Rousey’s music then hits and she heads to the ring. The fans give Ronda a huge reception. Ronda says everyone loves to talk about her. Ronda says the last time she checked, she won the Women’s Rumble match. Ronda says that Charlotte is just one of many to who she owes an ass-kicking. The fans chant for Ronda now. Ronda says Charlotte is not special and says that she will see Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania. Charlotte laughs and tells Ronda that the opportunity is back in the main event of WrestleMania. Charlotte holds up her title and says her title is her baby and it’s prettier than Ronda’s baby. Ronda takes off her jacket as Sonya tries to stop her from going after Charlotte. Sonya then jumps on Sonya and slams her down and locks her in the Ronda Armbar, as Charlotte watches on.
