AEW Dynamite: Adam Cole and reDRagon Stand Tall

Tonight’s AEW Dynamite comes to us live from Jacksonville, FL at Daily’s Place. The show is headlined by Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D and Jamie Hayter taking on Thunder Rosa and Mercedes Martinez in a tag team match, “Hangman” Adam Page, Johnny Silver, and Alex Reynolds take on Adam Cole and the Young Bucks, and the Casino Tag Royale match. Tony Kahn also promises a massive announcement.

The show kicks off with Tony Kahn already in the ring with Tony Schiavone. Schiavone asks what the major announcement is and hands Kahn the mic. Kahn takes the mic and thanks everyone for being there live. He says that this is the biggest week in the history of this company.

Kahn says that when they started AEW, it was out of the parking lot right outside. He says 17 years before that ROH started. He says that he has been a fan of Ring of Honor for a while. Khan announces that as of today, he is the new owner of Ring of Honor. Kahn introduces Bryan Danielson for his upcoming match.

Bryan Danielson vs Christopher Daniels

The first main event of the first Ring of Honor show, Bryan Danielson takes on Christopher Daniels in the opening match tonight. The bell rings and the two have a staredown and then shake each other’s hand. The match starts with a lock-up followed by some chain wrestling between the two.

Daniels uses his agility and quickness to get Danielson off his game. Danielson hits a shoulder tackle on Daniels and quickly takes over the match. Daniels sends Danielson to the outside and hits a moonsault from the top rope onto the floor. Daniels throws Danielson back into the ring and goes for a high-flying move.

Danielson hits one of his swift kicks onto Daniels in mid-air and has regained control of this match. Danielson uses his submission moves to completely take out Daniels in this match. The two then start having a slap-off in the middle of the ring.

Daniels is able to get back into the match and calls for the “angel’s wings.” Danielson is able to counter and hit a german suplex. Danielson backs Daniels into the corner and hits him with chops and kicks. He then attempts a superplex from the top but Daniels sends him down and hits him with a cross-body.

Daniels then punches Danielson but Danielson smirks and hits him back. The two then exchanged punches but Danielson was able to gain the momentum coming out of that. Danielson goes for a high-flying move but Daniels meets him at the top rope, hoping to try a superplex of his own.

Daniels instead attempts a hurricanrana but Danielson counters. Daniels is able to attempt the BME but Danielson catches him in the triangle sleeper and puts him to sleep.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

After the match, Danielson grabs the mic and says 20 years from the first ROH show, Daniels and him were in the main event. He says you start a match with a handshake and you end them with a handshake. As Daniels lays in the ring, Danielson picks up his hand and shakes it.

Danielson says that he’s not in ROH, he’s in AEW so it’s time to kick someone’s head in. Danielson hits his famous head kicks and then calls out Jon Moxley. He says Sunday at Revolution the head that will be stomped in is his. Jon Moxley’s music hits and out comes Moxley.

Moxley makes his way through the crowd and gets into the ring. He grabs the mic and says he can see that Danielson is better and more violent than ever before. Moxley says that there are two paths he can walk right now.

On one path, Moxley says his head will get kicked in and never be heard from again. On the other path, Moxley says that at the end of this path he beats the American Dragon, Bryan Danielson. Moxley says his story is just beginning and he writes the first chapter on Sunday in blood.

Moxley challenges Danielson to take his shot tonight and gets ready to fight. Danielson retreats out of the ring after faking the fans out by pretending to square up with Moxley. We then go backstage to hear from Darby Allin and Sting.

Sting says that this Friday on AEW Rampage, they’re not worried about nobody can get involved in the triple threat match. Darby says that at AEW Revolution, he, Sammy, and Sting will steal the show like they always do.

Casino Tag Team Royale

FTR makes their way out first. They are followed by Top Flight, which features Darius Martin making his return after over a year. FTR and Top Flight take the fight to one another. Top Flight uses their high-flying moves to get the upper hand against FTR.

The next team to enter is The Acclaimed. Max Caster comes out rapping as usual. He disses FTR and says that they will send them ROH. The Acclaimed enter the fray and brawl with FTR. FTR takes it right to The Acclaimed.

The next team to come out is Alan Angels and number 10 of the Dark Order. They fight with The Acclaimed almost immediately before taking the fight to everyone else in the match. The next team out is The Butcher and The Blade. They immediately go after Alan Angels and Anthony Bowens.

The Blade goes to eliminate Alan Angels to no avail. Alan does finally get eliminated. The next team out is the Varsity Blondes. They go after Bowens right off the bat. The next team to come out is Bear Country. They go after everyone and hit the first people they see.

Santana and Ortiz are the next team to enter the fray. They immediately brawl with Bear Country. Ortiz eliminates Bear Bronson, and Santana and Ortiz both eliminate Boulder. Ortiz eliminates Max Caster as well. The next team to come out are The Best Friends.

They come in and go after The Blade and Anthony Bowens. Bowens eliminates Griff Garrison. The next team to come out is Evil Uno and Stu Grayson. They immediately come to the aid of number 10 of the dark order. Blade gets eliminated by Darius Martin. Evil Uno and Stu Grayson eliminate The Butcher.

The next team to come out are the Young Bucks. They slowly make their way out to the ring and have a staredown with FTR while making their way into the ring. When they enter the ring, they immediately get taken out by all the other teams.

The next team to come out is Peter Avalon and Ryan Nemeth. They go after Trent almost instantly when they get in the ring. The next team to come out is the Gunn Club. The Gunn Club takes out whoever wants to step up to them. However, FTR and The Young Bucks eliminate the Gunn Club.

Brock Anderson and Lee Johnson are the next two to come out and join the fray. They immediately go after Avalon and Nemeth. Bowens eliminates number 10 and Ortiz eliminates Chuck Taylor. The Wingmen got eliminated as well. Bowens eliminates Grayson as well.

The final team to enter the match is 2point0. They took their time getting into the ring. Brock Anderson gets eliminated by The Young Bucks, who then eliminate his partner, Lee Johnson. Darius Martin eliminates Anthony Bowens. Evil Uno and Trent Beretta begin throwing punches on the apron.

Evil Uno goes for a piledriver on Trent on the apron but Danhausen makes the ave. Trent eliminates Evil Uno. Santana, Ortiz, and 2point0 all begin brawling on the apron. Santana and Ortiz eliminate 2point0. Santana and Ortiz get eliminated by FTR off a distraction from 2point0.

The final three teams are FTR, Top Flight, and the Young Bucks. Top Flight and FTR then take the fight to each other and Dante and Cash eliminate each other. Young bucks are the only team left in the match. Out of nowhere, reDRagon takes out Harwood on the floor after he gets eliminated.

The Young Bucks and Darius Martin are the only competitors remaining in the match. Darius had a very strong showing in this match. The Young Bucks go for the Meltzer Driver but Nick Jackson gets eliminated when Martin sends Matt Jackson into him.

The two then brawl on the apron. Matt Jackson hits Darius Martin with a low blow followed by a superkick to eliminate Martin.

Winners: The Young Bucks

After the match, we see reDRagon celebrating that the Young Bucks won. The AEW tag team champions, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus come out and have a stare-down with the Bucks and reDRagon ahead of the triple threat tag team match on Sunday at AEW Revolution.

We hear from Chris Jericho ahead of his match with Eddie Kingston this Sunday. Jericho says that Kingston is finally becoming the big star he always knew Kingston would be. Jericho says this Sunday Kingston will finally have the chance to win the big one.

Jericho says if Kingston wins, he’ll shake his hand and respect him. Santana and Ortiz interrupt Jericho backstage and give him a fist bump. CM Punk’s music hits and Punk comes out to cut a promo ahead of his dog-collar match with MJF on Sunday.

Punk says that he used to ask himself he was the bad guy. He says up until a week ago he was certain that MJF was the bad guy. Punk says that what MJF did last week takes courage. He also says he can’t shake the feeling he’s being gaslit.

Punk says he believes MJF was telling the truth. He says that the questions lie with the sincerity of what MJF said. Punk says since he’s been in AEW he’s seen and heard MJF say and do bad things. Punk says he needs to do something but MJF has to come out so they could have a conversation in front of the world.

MJF makes his way out to the ring with no music. Punk says that he’s done horrible things in his life. He tells MJF that all the hate he has will burn him up on the inside. Punk says that he sure is trying to be the good guy and extends his hand out to shake MJF’s hand.

MJF backs away before pushing Punk’s hand away and giving him a hug instead. The two give each other a hug in the middle of the ring and when they stop, MJF low blows CM Punk. MJF then hits a piledriver threw the middle rope into the ring. MJF takes off his jacket and unveils his shirt which is his photo with CM Punk.

MJF calls out Wardlow and Spears and Wardlow gives MJF the diamond ring. MJF then hits the diamond ring off the head of CM Punk, knocking him out. Wardlow and Spears enter the ring and watch as MJF completely destroys CM Punk ahead of their match on Sunday.

CM Punk has been busted open badly at the hands of MJF. MJF has Spears tie the dog collar around CM Punk’s neck. MJF grabs the mic and calls Punk a stupid, old man. He says he is a snake and says that this Sunday he shows everyone that he is the devil himself.

MJF then instructs Spears to choke out CM Punk. Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and Sting make the save for CM Punk. This was a solid promo and arguably one of the most heinous acts in the history of AEW. We then see Tony Schiavone interview Keith Lee.

Keith Lee gets interrupted immediately by Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. Starks says that Rampage is Starks country. Starks says Keith Lee better not show up if he knows what’s good for him.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D and Jamie Hayter vs Mercedes Martinez and Thunder Rosa

Dr. Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter make their entrance first. They are followed by Mercedes Martinez and Thunder Rosa. The four women immediately start brawling right off the bat. Rosa and Baker kick it off for their respective teams.

Martinez and Rosa hit some double team moves onto Baker behind the referee’s back. Martinez and Baker start off the match. Baker quickly gets back into the match and tags in Hayter. Hayter and Martinez have a staredown and then go for a couple of shoulder blocks but neither woman budges.

Martinez is finally able to take down Hayter before making the tag to Rosa. Hayter gains the upper hand off a distraction from Rebel and Baker. Baker and Hayter use a lot of heel tactics to remain in control of Thunder Rosa and the match.

Rosa is able to get back into it, but Hayter quickly stops that momentum. Rosa is able to make the hot-tag to Martinez. However, Baker and Hayter are able to keep that momentum short-lived. Baker hits a superkick and then goes to lock in her submission but Martinez counters and tags in Rosa.

Rosa and Baker have a staredown and start to tee off on each other. Rosa is able to hit the death valley driver on Baker and goes for the pin. Jamie Hayter makes the save for her team. The match then breaks down as everyone begins to brawl. Rosa is able to hit her finisher on Baker and pins her for the victory.

Winners: Mercedes Martinez and Thunder Rosa

After the match, we hear from Tay Conti and Anna Jay. Cargill immediately interrupts and says she gave Conti this opportunity. Conti gets angry and needs to be held back by Anna Jay. Cargill’s lawyer says that she isn’t allowed to touch Jade until Sunday or they will call off the match.

We then see a hype video for Kris Statlander and Leyla Hirsch’s upcoming match. The match will be happening at the Buy-In on Sunday at AEW Revolution.

Wardlow vs Cezar Bononi

Wardlow makes his entrance and Bononi is in the ring waiting for him. Bononi hits Wardlow right away but Wardlow quickly hits a powerbomb onto Bononi, followed by his powerbomb symphony and pins him for the win.

Winner: Wardlow

After the match, Shawn Spears goes to hit Bononi with the chair, but Wardlow stops him. Spears gets in the face of Wardlow, which causes Wardlow to inch closer to him. Spears quickly backs down and walks away.

We then see a promo video for House of Black. Buddy Matthews says that they are the house and the house always wins. We see Shawn Spears and Wardlow being interviewed backstage. Spears brings MJF, and MJF says that if Wardlow wins the ladder match and the TNT Championship, he’ll let Wardlow keep it.

MJF says it’s not like Wardlow will win it anyways. Wardlow says that’s because he’s always protecting him and making sure he wins. MJF slaps Wardlow and tells Wardlow to remember his spot on the roster.

Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly vs “Hangman” Adam Page, John Silver, Alex Reynolds

Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly make their entrance first. They are followed by “Hangman” Adam Page, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds. The crowd is very hot for this match. Cole and Page start the match off for their teams and have a staredown. Cole backs away and tags in Bobby Fish.

Page and Fish will kick it off for their teams. Fish goes for a kick to the head by Page moves and begins punching Fish. Page then takes the fight to Fish all over the ring. Fish is able to move Page into his corner and tags in O’Reilly. Page takes out both members of reDRagon before tagging in John Silver.

Silver and O’Reilly exchange leg kicks but Silver gets the upper hand. Silver tags in Reynolds and they take out O’Reilly. O’Reilly is able to gain the upper hand on Reynolds before tagging in Adam Cole. Cole and O’Reilly exchange tags and keep Reynolds in their corner.

Page makes the tag to come in for his team and Bobby Fish quickly gains the upper hand. Fish tags in Cole quickly. Cole and Page have a staredown but Page tags in John Silver and Cole tags in Kyle O’Reilly.

Cole and reDRagon are able to control the match by quick tags and keeping Silver in their corner. Silver tags in Page who comes in the ring hot. Page takes both members of reDRagon out and quickly switches the momentum of the match. Cole gets tagged in and the two immediately start throwing bombs at each other.

Reynolds, Silver, and reDRagon come in as well and start brawling as well. Cole hits his finisher on Silver and Page hits a lariat onto Cole. Alex Reynolds tags himself in and looks like he is going to beat Cole. Cole hits a superkick onto Reynolds and a knee to the back of the head to pick up the win.

Winners: Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly

After the match, Cole continues beating up Reynolds. Page makes the save and is able to fight of reDRagon also. He goes for the buckshot lariat onto Cole but Fish hits Page with a kick to the ankles. Cole orders reDRagon to tape Page to the ropes and they oblige.

Silver tries to help out Page but reDRagon takes him out, and Cole hits Reynolds with a Panama Sunrise. Cole hits Page with a couple of superkicks before picking up the AEW World Championship. He places the belt on the shoulder of Page and the show ends with Cole standing tall.
