AEW Dynamite: Scorpio Sky wins TNT Championship & Jeff Hardy appears

Tonight’s AEW Dynamite comes to us live from the Hertz Arena in Florida. The show is headlined by Sammy Guevara defending his TNT Championship against Scorpio Sky. We will also see “Legit” Leyla Hirsch take on Thunder Rosa in a women’s title eliminator match where the winner will go on to face Britt Baker next week for her AEW Women’s Championship.

Tonight’s show kicks off with Chris Jericho immediately coming down to the ring. Chris Jericho says that last Sunday was one of the best nights in his career. Jericho says that it was one of the best matches he’s had in his career and maybe the best one he’s ever had in AEW.

He then thanks Eddie Kingston for awakening something in him that’s been asleep for a long time. Jericho then goes on to say he was frustrated and angry which is why he didn’t shake his hand. He calls out Eddie Kingston because he wants to shake his hand and say he’s earned his respect.

Eddie Kingston’s music hits and Kingston makes his way out to the ring. Kingston says that he didn’t want to show up, he wanted to go out and drink because Jericho got in his mind about not being able to win the big one. Kingston says at Fanfest he had four separate people come up to him and say they didn’t end themselves because of his players tribune article.

Kingston says he cried in his hotel room because he wanted to make those people proud. He then says he hopes he did them proud. Kingston says that he never needed that handshake, he just needed to win the match. Kingston then says that he wanted to find the Jericho he respected. He says that Jericho proved him and everyone else wrong because he is still the man.

Jericho says that everything Kingston says was correct. He tells Eddie that he respects him and thanks to him for giving him one of the best matches in his career, and would be honored to shake his hand. Jericho extends his hand first, and Kingston accepts and shakes his hand.

Daniel Garcia and 2point0 make their way to the ring. They immediately attack both Kingston and Jericho. Santana and Ortiz come out to make the save. Chris Jericho hits Santana with the bat who was holding up Daniel Garcia. Jericho, Daniel Garcia, and 2point0 attack Kingston and Santana and Ortiz.

Jake Hager runs out to make the save and tries to talk sense into Jericho. Hager ends up siding with Jericho, Garcia, and 2point0. Jericho then orders 2point0 to hold up Kingston and hits him with a bat. 2point0 sets up a table at ringside and Jake Hager powerbombs Kingston through it.

Jericho and Hager leave their Inner Circle jackets over Santana and Ortiz. Jericho says that this is the Jericho appreciation society. Jericho, Hager, Garcia, and 2point0 leave Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz laying in the ring. We then see a hype video of MJF and CM Punk’s match from Revolution.

AEW World Championship: “Hangman” Adam Page(c) vs Dante Martin

Dante Martin makes his way out to the ring first, followed by Adam Page. The match starts with a handshake between the two men. The match begins with a feeling-out process of sorts by both men. Dante Martin uses his speed and agility to evade Page and keep that match in his favor.

Martin then goes for a springboard dive, but Hangman catches him and hits him with a fallaway slam. The two then move to the outside of the ring and Page hits a cross-body on Martin from inside the ring to the floor. Page immediately throws Martin back into the ring and is in firm control of the match.

Dante is able to hit a missile dropkick from the top rope and gets back into the match. The two men then throw punches before Martin throws Page to the outside. Martin hits a moonsault on Page who is on the floor, from the top rope. Martin then throws Page back into the ring.

Martin goes for another high-risk move but Page is able to reverse it into a powerbomb and attempts a pinfall for only a two-count. Hangman is finally able to hit the buckshot lariat on Dante after a really cool, fast-moving sequence between the two.

Winner: And still AEW World Champion, “Hangman” Adam Page

After the match, we see Tony Schiavone interview Page in the middle of the ring. Schiavone asks about his match with Adam Cole. Page tells Dante Martin to get back in the ring as he was on the entrance ramp. Hangman says that Martin is one of the hardest-hitting, quickest guys he’s ever seen in his life.

Hangman says he would love to do it again. Adam Cole comes out and says that on Sunday they went to war. He congratulates Page on a fluke victory over Adam Cole. Cole says the next time they fight each other, Page will not win again.

Cole challenges Page to a six-man tag-team match next week on AEW Dynamite. Cole says he will make Page’s life a living hell and he won’t stop until he gets his AEW World Championship.

Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley vs The Workhorsemen

Bryan Danielson makes his way out to the ring first accompanied by William Regal. He is followed by Jon Moxley who makes his way through the crowd. The match starts out with Moxley and Danielson attacking both members of The Workhorsemen. JD Drake and Jon Moxley are the two legal men to start out the match.

Moxley makes the tag out to Danielson who then comes in and hits Drake with his famous kicks. Drake makes the tag and in comes Anthony Henry. Danielson takes the fight to Henry before tagging out to Moxley. Moxley comes in the ring and continues to do the same before making another quick tag to Danielson.

Danielson locks in the “Romero Special” on Anthony Henry. Moxley makes the tag while the move is locked in and bites Henry’s face. Moxley takes a missile dropkick from Henry which allows Henry to tag in JD Drake. Drake hits chops on Moxley but it seems to have no effect.

Moxley takes out both members of The Workhorsemen and tags in Danielson. Danielson hits the running knee on JD Drake. Moxley hits the paradigm shift on the floor to Anthony Henry at the same time. Danielson hit his famous kicks to the head and locked in the lebell lock to make JD Drake submit.

Winners: Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley

After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews William Regal in the middle of the ring. The crowd goes nuts for Regal, no shocker there. Regal says that it’s been 29 years since they were on TBS together. Regal also says that he’s lived his life.

He says that he’s out there to thank Tony Schiavone. Regal starts crying and thanks Schiavone for helping him 29 years ago when he first moved here. He says time is ticking by and for two months he sat at home and checked out of the wrestling industry.

Regal says that someone told him Danielson mentioned him on AEW Dynamite. This caused him to watch and he found out Danielson was going to fight Moxley.  Regal says that he makes people better professional wrestlers. He says that Bryan Danielson is the wrestler he should have been and is the perfect wrestler.

Regal says Danielson became everything that he could never be. He says 11 years ago he met Jon Moxley. Regal says that when he found out they were wrestling Sunday, he knew it was time to come along. Regal says that they are the perfect combination. The perfect wrestler, and the perfect sadistic person.

Regal then warns every single person to step in the ring with them, that they will not like the outcome. They will either step up or get stepped on. We then see Dark Order get interviewed by Alex Marvez. Dark Order asks what their relationship is with Adam Page.

Page interrupts and apologizes for Sunday. John Silver says who’s going to be facing for the AEW Tag titles next week, and Page says the Young Bucks were chosen. John Silver responds and says it’s cool because he has a beard appointment anyways.

Wheeler Yuta vs Pac

Wheeler Yuta makes his entrance first accompanied by Danhausen and Orange Cassidy. Cassidy is wearing a sling because he got injured on Sunday. Pac makes his way out next accompanied by Penta Oscuro. The match starts off with a collar-and-elbow tie-up.

Yuta uses his quickness to get the momentum in the match early on. However, that didn’t last long as Pac is able to counter one of his moves and send him face-first to the mat. Pac controls the match for a majority of the rest of it.

Yuta is able to get back into it with a release german suplex that turned Pac inside out. Yuta follows this up with some more of his high octane offense. Pac hits a brainbuster on Yuta from the top rope and locks in his submission hold which causes Yuta to tap.

Winner: Pac

After the match, we see the Cutler Cam with Adam Cole, reDRagon, and the Young Bucks. Cole says that Sunday wasn’t the best night for them. This causes the Bucks and reDRagon to start arguing.

Cole says next week he has the perfect two partners to challenge Page and his tag-team partners next week. Cole says that he wasn’t going to ask the Young Bucks to be his partners and asks reDRagon instead.

We also see an interview with FTR. FTR calls out reDRagon and Young Bucks. Tully Blanchard interrupts and says AEW is about them winning their championships for the second time. Cash Wheeler fires Tully Blanchard.

Up next, we see the A.H.F.O. emergency meeting. This meeting was called by Matt Hardy to address issues in the A.H.F.O. Matt Hardy says he wants to make things right and start fresh. Andrade interrupts and says that he doesn’t know what happened to Matt Hardy.

Matt Hardy apologizes to everyone for transforming into an a**hole. Matt Hardy says he just wants to make things right. Andrade says they will take a vote on if they will vote to see if Hardy will be fired from A.H.F.O. Andrade and his lawyer vote no. Private Party also votes no and attack Matt Hardy from behind.

Matt Hardy sees that they voted him out and the A.H.F.O. attacks him and it’s a 5-on-1. Andrade is now calling the shots in the A.H.F.O. Darby Allin, and Sting make the save for Matt Hardy. But the A.H.F.O. still have the numbers game in their favor.

Jeff Hardy makes the save to one of the biggest pops in AEW history. Jeff Hardy cleans the house and takes everyone out.  Matt Hardy hits a twist of fate onto Butcher and Jeff Hardy hits a Swanton bomb. Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Darby Allin, and Sting stand tall to end the segment.

“Swerve” Strickland is seen being interviewed ahead of his match on Friday at AEW Rampage Tony Nese interrupts and says he wants to run back their Friday night matches. Nese also says that he wants to be the person to welcome the newcomer to AEW. Tony Nese vs “Swerve” Strickland is made official for AEW Rampage on Friday night.

Tony Schiavone is seen in the ring and Wardlow’s music hits. We get to hear what Wardlow has to say following Sunday’s event. Wardlow says that he took his chance to fill his own hopes and dreams. Wardlow says that he walked out of one cage and entered another helping Max fulfill his dreams.

Wardlow says he knew MJF wasn’t a good person when he signed up for the job. He asks for forgiveness for associating with such trash. Wardlow says that he needed to work for MJF because it would provide himself, his mom, and his future family with a better life.

Wardlow thanks MJF for providing him with a better life. He says MJF has no right to disrespect him as he did. Wardlow says he is still under contract with MJF but he doesn’t care anymore. He says he is no longer watching his back, no longer his bodyguard, and no longer a member of The Pinnacle.

Wardlow says he is finally free. He asks MJF to release him from this contract. He says he wasted three years on him and refuses to waste another ounce of energy. The only thing Wardlow cares about now is winning the TNT Championship. Wardlow says as of right now, AEW is officially Wardlow’s world.

Keith Lee and QT Marshall are seen being interviewed by Alex Marvez. QT Marshall says that The Factory and QT have Keith Lee’s back against Team Tazz. Keith Lee says he has a very large back and he’s good. QT gets annoyed and says Lee will pay for this.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus vs The Acclaimed

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus make their way to the ring first accompanied by Christian Cage. The Acclaimed make their way out next with a Max Caster rap. The Gunn Club is seen in the stands watching the match. Jungle Boy and Anthony Bowens start the match for their respective teams.

Anthony Bowens immediately goes on the offense and forces Jungle Boy into his corner. Bowens tags in Caster and they try to double team Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy is able to counter and send Caster flying. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus exchange quick tags as they double team Max Caster.

Thanks to a distraction by Bowens, they are able to gain the upper hand on Jungle Boy. The Acclaimed control the match, for the time being, exchanging quick tags and keeping each other fresh. Jungle Boy is able to give Luchasaurus a hot-tag after creating distance between himself and Bowens.

Luchsaurus comes in and takes out both members of The Acclaimed. Luchasaurus goes for a double chokeslam but both members of The Acclaimed role out of the ring. All four men fight on the floor.

Finally, Luchasaurus is able to get Caster back in the ring and hits a standing moonsault, and chokeslam on Caster for the two-count.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus go for a double-team move, but Bowens is able to save Caster by tripping up Jungle Boy. Bowens tags into the match and hits a superkick on Jungle Boy. Caster hits a mic drop on Jungle Boy but Luchasaurus is able to make the save.

Bowens goes to hit Luchasaurus with the boom box, but Luchasaurus catches it. The Acclaimed hit their finishing move on Jungle Boy in the ring but only get a two-count. Caster goes to hit Luchasaurus with his chain but Luchasaurus counters and knocks Caster out on the floor.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus hit their finisher on Bowens and pick up the victory to remain the AEW World Tag Team Champions.

Winners: And Still AEW World Tag Team Champions, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus

Jade Cargill is seen cutting a promo. She says she has beaten everyone. Cargill is issuing an open challenge for the TBS Championship.

AEW Women’s Title Eliminator Match: “Legit” Leyla Hirsch vs Thunder Rosa

“Legit” Leyla Hirsch makes her way out to the ring first, followed by Thunder Rosa. The match starts out with a feeling-out process and some chain wrestling. The two women stare each other down to try to play mind games.

Thunder Rosa hits an arm drag on Hirsch and sends her to the corner. Rosa continues her attack in the corner but Hirsch is able to counter and attack Rosa’s elbow. Hirsch remains in control of the match and targets the elbow of Thunder Rosa.

Rosa is able to get back into the match and take the fight to Hirsch. She is heavily favoring the elbow, after Hirsch’s attack on it all match. Rosa goes for a high-risk move and Hirsch hits a german suplex on her. Hirsch makes her way to the top rope and Rosa is able to attack her from behind.

Rosa climbs up to the top rope as well to meet Hirsch. Rosa hits a superplex on Hirsch from the top rope before following it up with a neck breaker. Rosa hits a running clothesline and pins Hirsch but only gets a two-count.

Hirsch was able to counter and send Rosa flying. She then pulls out the turnbuckle from under the ring that she used on Kris Statlander. Red Velvet comes out to make the save for Rosa and throws Hirsch back into the ring. Rosa hits a sunset flip for a near fall.

Rosa is finally able to hit her finishing move on Leyla Hirsch for the three-count.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

After the match, Red Velvet enters the ring and helps Rosa up. Tony Schiavone announces that at St. Patrick’s Day Slam in Thunder Rosa’s hometown, next week she meets Dr. Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s Championship in a steel cage.

Dr. Britt Baker is seen standing by and cuts a promo saying she doesn’t know why Rosa was given another shot already. She says regardless of the cage, she’s not afraid of her or the cage. She’s afraid of what will happen to AEW if Thunder Rosa becomes AEW Women’s Champion.

TNT Championship Match: Sammy Guevara (c) vs Scorpio Sky

Scorpio Sky makes his way to the ring first being accompanied by Ethan Page and Dan Lambert. We see Paige Van Zant watching the show from the audience. Sammy Guevara makes his way down to the ring and he’s wearing the Inner Circle vest still.

The match starts off with both men teeing off on each other. Sammy Guevara uses his quickness to send Scorpio Sky out of the ring to regroup. Sky takes a cheap shot at Sammy as he gets distracted by Ethan Page and Dan Lambert. Sammy gets annoyed and throws Sky into the guardrail.

Guevara sets up a table at ringside. Scorpio Sky goes to throw Guevara through the table, but Guevara counters and knocks out Sky with a superkick. Guevara sets up Sky on the table and makes his way to the top rope.

Guevara goes for a 450-splash on Sky through the table but Sky moves out of the way. Guevara goes crashing through the table and it looks really bad. Hopefully, he will be okay as that was a hard fall.

The table exploded underneath the body of Guevara. Tay Conti comes out to check on Sammy Guevara who suffered a bad fall in that spot. A doctor comes out to tend to Guevara and it looks like Sammy may be seriously injured.

Guevara has to be helped to the back and falls down at the entrance ramp. Guevara fights with the doctors and refs to let him continue the match. He starts throwing punches at Sky but Sky is able to target his body and send him through the ropes onto the floor.

Conti checks on him again and Sky gets in her face. Conti then gets face-to-face with Paige Van Zant. Sky continues targeting the body of Sammy Guevara. Sammy Guevara is able to roll up Sky for a two-count.

Guevara hits a high-risk move on Sky and hits a cutter on Sky. Guevara goes for the pin but Sky kicks out at two. Guevara hits a shooting-star press on Sky but Sky gets the knees up just in time. Ethan Page and Tay Conti were going at it on the outside and Paige Van Zant jumps Conti from behind.

While all that was going on, Scorpio Sky hits his finishing move on Sammy Guevara and pins him for the three count.

Winner: And New TNT Champion, Scorpio Sky

After the match, Sky hits Guevara with one of the TNT title belts. Paige Van Zant then knocks out Conti and leaves her lying motionless on Guevara. Van Zant signs her contract with AEW on Tay Conti’s body. Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page, Dan Lambert, and Paige Van Zant stand tall to end AEW Dynamite.
