WrestleMania season is roaring forward. The two-night event is coming up shortly and fans are in a mixed place about the card. The action doesn’t stop with WrestleMania, however. WWE needs to build new stars on the roster to keep fans interested in said action. Money in the Bank has often been used to kickstart the careers of many individuals and hopefully, 2022 is a year where the same can be said. Looking ahead to the July event, here are three names that should be considered front runners to win the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase.

Shotzi Blackheart

There was a moment when Shotzi was introduced to the main roster where it looked like WWE creative was ready to put her in a place of prominence. Unfortunately, that has not been the case as she’s been seldom used since. To date, she has only one televised match on WWE SmackDown in 2022 and she was squashed by Sasha Banks in less than three minutes. Other than appearing in the Royal Rumble for a moment, she has not been featured heavily on television.

Blackheart stands out when compared to her colleagues. Her unique look and presentation should be leveraged to elevate that point, building interest in her as a contender along the way. Blackheart never held a singles title while in NXT, so using the MITB briefcase to build to that moment on the main roster has the potential to be an interesting angle for fans to get invested in.

Shayna Baszler

Many expect Ronda Rousey to pick up the victory over Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania. Whether that excites fans or not is another question. But one way to create some intrigue in a Rousey title run would be to put her up against Shayna Baszler with the MITB briefcase in hand.

The relationship between Baszler and Rousey goes all the way back to 2013 on The Ultimate Fighter. Baszler was still known as a trailblazer in women’s MMA and was assigned to Team Rousey as her coach. Playing off that dynamic and the different paths both women took to the WWE main roster is all the story needed to build this into a huge feud. The two women have yet to share any true interactions in the ring, other than a brief smile in the Royal Rumble. Turning that on its head and having Baszler hunt down Rousey the same way she did Kairi Sane, Ember Moon, and others would raise the stakes for everyone involved.

Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley is set for the women’s tag team match with the titles on the line at WrestleMania. Fans continue to push for Ripley as a singles star, but she continues to be shuffled from one team to another. On NXT, Ripley was booked like a huge deal. That momentum was cut out from under her by Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36, and she’s yet to regain it. Having her win the MITB would be the perfect start to fixing that issue.

There are a lot of hints toward a feud between Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. These are two, full-time members of the women’s roster that could be booked on a level akin to the Four Horsewomen. Having these two ladies face off at a major event like SummerSlam would benefit the entire division. Setting them on that path with Ripley winning the briefcase and making her title shot known is exactly where the WWE should start this feud that can power this division for years to come.
