WWE: Three names that need to return to television post-WrestleMania
WrestleMania is at the forefront of every WWE fans’ mind. The big annual show is less than two weeks away, so the excitement or lack thereof is palpable. Most are talking about the outcome of scheduled matches or who Seth Rollins will face, but there’s also a need to look at what will happen after WrestleMania. WWE has struggled to build its roster beyond Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, but it’s time for that to change in the coming days. Looking beyond WrestleMania, these are three names that need to hit the ground running with a major push on the main roster.
Shotzi Blackheart
The WWE women’s division needs something different. Everything can’t continue to revolve around the Four Horsewomen and Ronda Rousey. Especially not when there’s a deep roster with many women that can be featured at the top of the division, either as challengers or a threat to the title. Shotzi Blackheart on SmackDown is one of those ladies and WWE should invest more time into her push in a post-WrestleMania world.
Blackheart has a look that helps her stand out from many of her colleagues on the roster, which is very important. It can be difficult to look original and memorable in the eyes of fans, but Blackheart already has a wide lead in that space. Her big personality also comes off well, even though WWE Creative already removed most of what made her interesting on NXT. There was a time when it looked like WWE was going to get behind her for a brief push, but that quickly ended. It’s time to restore that momentum and give her some time to be a featured talent on the show.
Elias
Remember Elias? Sure, you do. He went from being over with the fans for his singing gimmick and dependable in-ring skills, to being saddled with the albatross that was Jaxson Ryker. WWE was airing videos that hinted to a potential return, but many rumors surfaced that the plan was cut because of the idea that he looks too like the “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Quite the reason.
Again, Elias is someone that fans recognize, but after so long of not seeing him on television, bringing him back could be a fresh boost to the roster. WWE continues to marvel with its ability to run the same tired rematches each week, that Elias’s return creates opportunities for something new. Here’s to hoping we see something different before more fans continue to walk.
Alexa Bliss
Alexa Bliss is one of the most popular individuals on the WWE roster. Whether fans or fanatics, she has a massive backing that will not be silent about her absence. She was brought back briefly for Elimination Chamber, but whatever plans the company had for her were quickly put on pause. The reasons behind that are unknown, but every Monday Night Raw, fans wonder “Where’s Alexa?”
Bliss is one of the few names that could be seen on par with the Four Horsewomen or on a rung right below. She can step back onto the stage and immediately be a credible opponent for whoever comes out of WrestleMania as the champion. WWE has some work to do with her, but it’s time for Alexa Bliss to have a strong showing once the PPV weekend ends.
