Willow Nightingale should be the first woman to defeat Jade Cargill
Willow Nightingale should be at the top of every organization’s big board when looking at all the free agents available in professional wrestling. With her appearance on AEW Rampage and recently the Ring of Honor Supercard, it’s time for a company to pull the trigger on signing this exceptionally talented performer. She would be a perfect fit to face and defeat Jade Cargill in the future.
AEW has done a fantastic job building Cargill into a star. She has everything that makes fans stop and watch whenever she is on the screen, on social media, and anywhere in between. She’s not a heel, but simply a powerful Black woman that believes everything she says about herself. And it’s working. Look at her platform growth on social media and her segments’ ratings every week. Fans want to see more of Cargill as she grows in professional wrestling.
At the same time, many wonders who will be the woman to break that undefeated streak. Right now, there isn’t a strong enough babyface in the AEW women’s division to take that zero. The first win over Cargill is going to be a massive moment that will give that individual a huge push. It’s very intriguing to watch how AEW has built up the importance of Cargill’s first loss as she has only 30 matches to her name. Regardless of that fact, the first woman to get their hand raised over Cargill will be a made star and that person should be Willow Nightingale.
There’s money in booking strong babyfaces. AEW has multiple examples on the roster like “Hangman” Adam Page, Jungle Boy, and Orange Cassidy. There has yet to be the same type of name on the women’s division, but Nightingale would solve that conundrum.
Fans are pushing for the company to sign her, sooner rather than later, and there’s clear interest there. She’s had nine matches so far in AEW, and even though she’s been on the wrong side of all the outcomes, which would change immediately upon becoming a contracted competitor. She has the look, in-ring skill set, personality, and fan following that screams superstar in today’s wrestling industry that wants to see more diversity to better represent the people consuming the product. Bringing in Nightingale and booking her as a serious threat to Cargill would go a long way in the right direction.
AEW is hitting its stride with signing the talent that fans want to see and leveraging them in important ways. Willow Nightingale is a competitor that must be on their short list of top free agents to bring in. Hopefully, that happens because a Jade Cargill versus Willow Nightingale feud has money and fan interest written all over it.
