Nathan Frazer is poised to remind fans why they loved Ben Carter
Tides of momentum can suddenly change in professional wrestling. One moment, the fans will be behind you, and the next they are calling for you to get off their televisions. Nathan Frazer once had a large swell of momentum behind him, but that was when he was in AEW competing under the name Ben Carter. Now, he’s headed over the WWE NXT 2.0 as Nathan Frazer and fans should expect to have their memories jogged about what he can do in the ring.
As he goes by Frazer today, it’s the Ben Carter name that independent wrestling fans will recognize. Early in his career, the United Kingdom native took part in shows throughout the industry. 2020 would be the year that he took off. His first match with GCW came in March of that year, right as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning to strangle the professional wrestling industry and all the world. Frazer’s career was impacted like others, as he waited three months until his next match.
But Frazer’s momentum swelled. He continued to participate in matches with GCW, stepped into Beyond, and eventually Warrior Wrestling. Then, a three-match run with All Elite Wrestling set all the eyes on Frazer and the future of his career. His run in AEW saw him compete against Ricky Starks, Lee Johnson, and then a spectacular match against Scorpio Sky.
That’s all fans needed to see. The decision was made. Frazer needed to be “All Elite” and the crowd was ready to embrace him. But that didn’t happen. Instead, WWE came calling and scooped him up. There was some fan dismay, with some claiming it was a wrong decision for his career and that WWE wouldn’t know how to utilize him.
However, WWE has proven that idea incorrect. While on WWE NXT UK, Frazer has continued to have a strong run, taking part in important matches. He would face the likes of A-Kid, Rampage Brown, Jordan Devlin, and Kenny Williams throughout his run. He was even the last man to take on WALTER before his move over to the United States and recently had a shot against WWE NXT UK champion, Ilja Dragunov.
Now, Frazer is heading over to WWE NXT 2.0 and fans should be excited for what is to come. There are plenty of matches available that have the potential to steal the show. Frazer against Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, Santos Escobar, Solo Sikoa, and others stand out as potential opponents that fans should get excited to see. This is an opportunity for Frazer to show more of the world what he can do and if played right he will be another star for the future that WWE can build around.
Many fans looked away when Nathan Frazer went with WWE rather than AEW. That move may have been the opposite of what they wanted, but it’s been a move that has helped his career blossom in what seems to be a positive direction.
