There’s a lot to look forward to with this super event between AEW and NJPW. Everyone is raving about the potential dream matches to come, and looking at both rosters there are plenty of options to choose from. With the main event slated in this previous piece about those contests, these are three options for the middle portion of the card that would keep fans in their seats.

NEVER Openweight 6-ManTap Team Championship

Blackpool Combat Club vs House of Torture

Fans are pushing for All Elite Wrestling to introduce six-man tag team titles. While Tony Khan has hinted at the idea of doing so in the future, what if three of AEW’s big stars just took three from New Japan? Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta take joy in pummeling their opponents from start to finish. That style fits in perfectly with much of how NJPW presents its performers. EVIL, SHO, and Yujiro Takahashi would gladly oblige.

This six-man tag match would not only be a great part of this show, but it would have implications beyond the event. Danielson has made it a point that he wants to face the best that NJPW has to offer, G1 Climax maybe? Yuta is in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, another pathway to more interactions. This could be the start of a long-term story between both organizations.

Andrade vs Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay is one of the best in-ring performers in professional wrestling. He’s recent run shows his growth as a performer. There are many that believe Andrade should hold such a position in the eyes of wrestling connoisseurs. His run in WWE gave fans glimpses, but never the full-blown outcome everyone wanted to see. Andrade’s time in AEW got off to a slow start, but that’s not so much the case anymore as he’s better featured, but still hasn’t reached championship status…yet.

Ospreay versus Andrade would tear the house down. It would be an early candidate for Match of the Year on everyone’s fictional end of the year rankings. There’s little that either man can do in the ring, and they would put it all on display in this attraction singles match.

Tetsuya Naito vs MJF

MJF has certainly made it clear that he believes he’s the future of not only All Elite Wrestling but all professional wrestling. In New Japan Pro Wrestling, Tetsuya Naito is one individual that stands as a historic icon for the promotion. That makes him the perfect target for MJF if he was included in this monumental showcase between the two companies.

Naito versus MJF would be an exceptional build of an angle leading to a match carried by the story. This wouldn’t be the work rate style match seen across the rest of the card, but they could still deliver the type of performance that would work for the fans of both promotions. NJPW viewers would know to hate everything about MJF and AEW fans are well versed in Naito’s significance. This would be a strong match to change up the pace of what will be an excellent super card.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door has fans excited about all the action that’s to come. And they rightfully should be excited because of all the dream matches this event can bring. These are just three ideas for a show that was highly anticipated the minute AEW was created.
