In the world of professional wrestling, companies love to promote first-time-ever matchups. Whether it be WWE, AEW, or any other company worldwide, the interest in a company’s product goes up when fans see two wrestlers who never squared off before inside the ring together. Over the last couple of months, wrestling fans have been allowed to see first-time dream matchups such as MJF versus CM Punk, Edge versus AJ Styles, Bryan Danielson versus Adam Page, and Bobby Lashley versus Brock Lesnar, amongst others.

There is never a shortage of new superstars entering WWE and AEW, meaning a new list of potential first-time matchups are at Tony Khan and Vince McMahon’s fingertips. In this article, I will be discussing Five First Time Ever Wrestling Matches that should happen.

5. Britt Baker vs. Jade Cargill

In the beginning stages of AEW, the women’s division wasn’t given the proper light to shine. Despite the talented roster, AEW had no major star among its female talent that would compare to those found in WWE or IMPACT Wrestling. Britt Baker and Jade Cargill are two names that rose to the occasion. Baker has nearly faced every top star in the company except Cargill, and it is only a matter of time before AEW gives fans this dream matchup.

4. MJF Vs. Samoa Joe

MJF is the future of professional wrestling and will be a world champion sooner than later. Looking back on the last few months, it’s crazy that AEW created the most popular wrestling feud in modern times with the MJF versus CM Punk. MJF and CM Punk feud was great because they made it personal by bringing up MJF’s childhood and his love for Punk.

In 2018 MJF appeared as a security guard during Samoa Joe’s entrance at NXT Takeover, being shoved by the NXT Champion in the process. Years later, MJF even went as far as to recreate the moment, pushing a staff member while making his way through a hallway in 2020. It would be impossible for AEW to use the NXT footage, but they can discuss it. A feud between Samoa Joe and MJF would be just as good if not better than the MJF and CM Punk feud.

3. Cody Rhodes Vs. Gunther

Cody Rhodes returned to the WWE at Wrestle-mania and defeated Seth in a great match. Rhodes is one of the best wrestlers on the WWE roster, and he should be working with the best. A Rhodes Vs. Gunther match is a dream match that fans would love to see because of the storytelling and how physical that match would be.

2. Undisputed Elite Vs. The Elite

When Adam Cole left NXT and arrived in AEW, he would align himself with his real-life friends Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. Fast forward to May 2022, Omega lost his AEW world championship and disappeared from television, along with The Good Brothers and manager Don Callis.

That has left The Young Bucks partially directionless. Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish would also make their way to AEW and form The Undisputed Elite. While the group seems okay now, it is only a matter of time before Omega returns and causes cracks in the group’s foundation. Omega and Cole are both used to being leaders of stables, and both take pride in wanting to be the best wrestler in the world. AEW has been talking about creating Trios tag team championships, and with this massive rivalry down the line, that would be the best time to introduce trios tag championships.

1. Roman Reigns Vs. The Rock

The WWE has done a fantastic job of building Roman Reigns as an unstoppable heel who loves his family. Ever since Reigns has returned to WWE and adopted his Head of the Table persona, the writing has been on the wall for the dream match between Reigns and The Rock.

In 2015, The Rock shocked the Philadelphia crowd and helped his cousin Roman win the Royal Rumble; WWE has not been shy about mentioning their family connection. The original rumor was that the match was supposed to happen at Wrestlemania. Still, The Rock’s schedule did not allow that to happen, meaning all eyes now turn to Hollywood and WrestleMania 39. This is one of the last big dream matches WWE has to do, so they have to make sure this feels like a big deal. The Rock and Reigns don’t need a championship involved in this match because the match sells itself. Who is the proper Head of the table for this family?
