Roman Reigns is the Undisputed World Champion and was rumored to not only miss the Hell in a Cell premium live event in June but also the Money in the Bank premium live event in July since he has been removed from the advertising. Unfortunately, the absence of the world champion hurts the show greatly, especially since the fans anticipate world title matches the most in professional wrestling. However, one premium live event Reigns won’t miss is SummerSlam. The following will provide five possible opponents for Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam 2022.

WWE SummerSlam 2022 is scheduled to take place on June 30, 2022, live on Peacock. Here are five possible opponents for Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.

5.) Riddle

On WWE Raw this week, Riddle officially announced that he will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed World Championship this summer. This will not only be revenge for Usos taking out his tag partner, Randy Orton, but also for Reigns costing them the undisputed tag titles a few weeks ago. Riddle did make some bold comments regarding Reigns a few months ago that gave him backstage heat, so it will be interesting to see if that resurfaces in their upcoming feud.

4.) Shinsuke Nakamura

On the April 8, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura had confronted Roman Reigns to challenge him for the Undisputed World Championship. This would have not only been revenge for the Usos taking out his tag partner, Rick BOOGS, at WrestleMania 38 but also a throwback to that Universal Title number one contender’s gauntlet in January 2021 that Nakamura was supposed to win until The Bloodline cost him the match. Redemption is needed.

3.) Randy Orton

At WrestleMania Backlash, The Bloodline defeated Drew McIntyre and RKBro, indicating that these three superstars will be in the conversation for world title contention throughout this summer. As already mentioned, Randy Orton would be getting revenge for being taken out of commission by the Usos but Orton would also be revisiting a SummerSlam 2014 rematch with Reigns. Orton lost to Reigns seven years ago, so it will be interesting to them square off again.

2.) Bobby Lashley

Our Raphael Garcia argued that Bobby Lashley should be the superstar to battle Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. As a former world champion who has regained momentum by defeating Omos at both WrestleMania and Hell in a Cell, Lashley now has a good case for world title contention. Lashley feuded with Reigns in 2018 when they were battling to determine the next one contender for Brock Lesnar’s world title. They can run it back now with the babyface and heel roles reversed.

1.) Drew McIntyre

It has already been reported that Drew McIntyre will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed World Championship at WWE Clash at the Castle, which is the premium live event after SummerSlam in September. Henceforth, it is unlikely that McIntyre will battle Reigns at SummerSlam. Nonetheless, Reigns vs. McIntyre is a SummerSlam-worthy match and McIntyre still has not captured a victory over The Tribal Chief in his entire career, so it’s redemption time for him.
