Fantasy booking a reimagined Bloodsport, but with professional wrestlers

The movie industry is all about remakes in today’s day and age. Reboots to bring back “safe” properties from the past that decision-makers know fans of yesterday will watch. With that in mind, what would happen in the greatest martial arts movie of all time, Bloodsport, was remade, but with a twist of professional wrestling. There are a lot of big characters in promotions around the world, but here are some individuals that should be involved in this fan fiction flick.

Carmelo Hayes as Frank Dux

Yes, Frank Dux is a real person with some interesting stories about his past. While some trolls will obviously scoff at the idea of casting Carmelo Hayes, in that role, this is more about the talent that Hayes has shown as a performer in the ring.

When looking at WWE’s roster, there are several names that stand out as superstars of the future. Hayes checks all the boxes necessary to not only have a large fanbase in professional wrestling, but also transcend the industry while touching multiple demographics like names like The Rock, or Sasha Banks. Putting him in this role as the focal point of a remade Bloodsport would be a hilarious, but interesting shift with someone who could be a star in the making.

Lance Archer as Jackson

Jackson was a loud American that crushed his opponents, smashing a brick over his head in a showcase of strength. Re-casting him with a professional wrestler that goes by the name “Murder Hawk Monster” seems like the perfect fit. Imagine Lance Archer on the elevated platform, flattening fighter after fighter, much of the way he does on AEW content on a weekly basis. Would it be a believable shift, if you’ve seen Archer in action then you know the answer to that question is yes.

Miro as Chong Li

Chong Li didn’t say much in the original Bloodsport, but the violence he put forth did all the talking for him. Miro has become a great talker while in All Elite Wrestling, but there isn’t any doubt that he could crush a few people in the role as the big bad guy, Chong Li. Look back at the images of Li playing to the crowd after picking up wins and envision Miro doing the same thing. That would be a near-perfect recasting for a rebooted Bloodsport.

Other wrestlers to include:

Becky Lynch is one of the best performers in wrestling today. Seeing her play a role as a confident women’s fighter ready to take on the Kumite would be a fantastic spot for her to play. One of the reasons her recent run-in WWE stands out is because she seems to be one of the few fully invested in storytelling that delivers. Putting her in this movie works.

Serena Deeb as a threatening women’s fighter, twisting all her opponents into knots would be the perfect foil to Lynch as the female protagonist. Her angry wrestling already looks believable and we know she has the chops to make all her moves look like she’s truly putting someone through it.

Minoru Suzuki. The man is called “Murder Grandpa,” is there more to say than that?

Next. Deonna Purrazzo's rise to success. dark

Bloodsport is a classic among classics in martial arts, no one will debate that. But what if professional wrestling was involved in the remake? These are some names that stand out as popular wrestlers that should be involved.
