AEW Dynamite: House of the Dragon Predictions: Kenny Omega returns?
AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday and will be broadcast live on TBS from Charleston, West Virginia as the flagship show presents its House of the Dragon episode.
Coming off of an action-packed Quake by the Lake show which saw the surprise return of CM Punk, AEW is showing no signs of slowing down as we are on the path to the All Out pay-per-view in early September.
This week’s aptly named House of the Dragon episode will feature a rematch between the “American Dragon” and the self-proclaimed “Dragon Slayer” and Dragon Lee will make his AEW debut in the opening round of the Trios Titles Tournament.
Let’s take a look at the announced matches for AEW Dynamite: House of the Dragon episode and what to expect from each.
Andrade El Idolo, Dragon Lee & Rush vs Young Bucks & ???
In the opening match of the AEW Trios Titles Tournament, the Young Bucks will team with a mystery partner to take on Andrade El Idolo, Dragon Lee, and Rush.
After witnessing “Hangman” Adam Page turn down the Bucks’ request to team with them last week all eyes turned towards Kenny Omega and the possibility of Omega making his return on Wednesday.
It is no secret that Tony Khan wanted to wait until the return of Omega to introduce Trios Titles in AEW. So the fact that the tournament is starting on the same night that the Young Bucks and a mystery partner are opening the tournament can’t be a coincidence. Omega will make his triumphant return, notching his first AEW win nearly a year as he and the Jackson brothers will move to the semifinals. Winners: The Elite
Gunn Club vs Varsity Blonds
The family drama between father and sons will continue this week as Austin and Colton Gunn face the Varsity Blonds.
After picking up a win against Beardhausen last week on Rampage, the sons of Billy will look to get back in their dad’s good graces by making it two wins in a row.
It is hard to see where this storyline is heading. This may just be a way to get the younger Gunns separated from their father within a storyline. The only thing that is certain is that the Gunn Club is the focus here and they should defeat the Varsity Blonds, even though it probably won’t be good enough for their father. Winners: Gunn Club
Kilynn King vs Toni Storm
With the unfortunate news that Kris Statlander is injured again, Toni Storm finds herself the new number one contender for Thunder Rosa’s AEW Women’s Title.
Storm will have a chance to keep her momentum going when she goes one on one with Kilynn King.
Toni should have little trouble dispatching King, but the real intrigue should start to develop after the match is over.
With Storm and Thunder Rosa having a one-on-one match for the AEW Women’s Title at Forbidden Door, it seems unlikely that the promotion would run the exact same match back at All Out.
A much more interesting match would be a fatal four way match with Rosa, Storm, Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. Hopefully the post-match here will set something like that up. Winner: Toni Storm
Bryan Danielson vs Daniel Garcia in a Two Out Of Three Falls Match
Daniel Garcia‘s victory over Bryan Danielson was probably the biggest upset in professional wrestling to date in 2022. On Wednesday, Garcia will get the chance to prove that it wasn’t a fluke when he battles Danielson in a two out of three falls match.
In choosing to have Garcia upset Danielson a couple of weeks ago AEW continued to show its dedication to building up its young talent.
Wardlow, Wheeler Yuta, and Garcia have all received considerable bumps over the past six months, but perhaps the biggest of them all happened when Garcia picked up a signature win over Danielson.
In what should be a hotly contested match that Danielson narrowly wins, this might also be a turning point in the young career of Garcia. Garcia’s demeanor doesn’t fit well with the Jericho Appreciation Society and the Blackpool Combat Club could use one more young member.
The post-match here should end with a show of respect and the start of an eventual shift from sports entertainer to a professional wrestler as Garcia starts to see that his path to greatness lies with Danielson and the BCC. Winner: Bryan Danielson
