After nearly a year of experimentation, it appears that WWE will once more apply a fresh coat of paint to their NXT brands. Before the technicolor-drenched NXT 2.0 gets remodeled and NXT UK shuts down in favor of NXT Europe, though, both entities will have one last hurrah in the form of the “inter-promotional” Worlds Collide event.

To commemorate this new era, WWE has scheduled five matches for the show, all of them for championship three of them being unification matches. If everything meets expectations, this could rank near the top of some “Best PPV of 2022” lists.

Given what’s at stake in most of these matches, we could learn a lot about the future direction of NXT based on the results.

With that in mind, let’s predict the match results for NXT Worlds Collide 2022

Katana Chance and Kayden Carter (c) vs. Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H.- NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship match: As we’ve seen with Natalya and Apollo Crews, a lack of recent main roster success has little bearing on the welcome you will receive if you show up in NXT, so it wasn’t a shock to hear how they reacted to Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop confronting Katana Chance and Kayden Carter on the Aug. 30 NXT 2.0 despite being booked as losers on Raw for the last couple of months.

Doudrop and the almost superhero are in this match to put Chance and Carter over (and because there are no other credible women’s teams in NXT besides Toxic Attraction), and that’s what we will likely see happen after roughly 10 minutes of fun action.

The win would mean more if the challengers were presented as threats, but WWE hopes that the optics of the champs beating two main roster mainstays is enough. Prediction: Katana Chance and Kayden Carter retain the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship (Chance pins A.S.H.)

The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus) (c) vs. Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen (c) vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince and Kit Wilson) vs. Gallus (Wolfgang and Mark Coffey)- Fatal-4-Way match to unify the NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Championships: As expected, weeks of respective feuding between these four teams has led to a multi-team match for both titles. The possibility that you can unify a title without pinning either of the champions weakens the gravity of the stipulation, but WWE hadn’t done much to tease a Creeds/Briggs and Jensen match (plus, few people are clamoring for it) and it clearly felt that getting all the teams on the card was more important.

In a perfect world, either the Creeds — who are green but have a high upside — or Pretty Deadly — who are fabulous heels — would win this, but Gallus seems more probable given how WWE has built them up in a short period of time. Don’t be surprised if Roderick Strong and/or Damon Kemp turn on the Creeds to finally set up the next chapter in the Diamond Mine schism storyline. Prediction: Gallus unifies the NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Championship (Wolfgang pins Julius Creed)

Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Ricochet- NXT North American Championship match: Our prime contender for Match of the Night. Carmelo Hayes’ performances over the last year in the ring and on the mic as North American Champion have earmarked him as a future main event attraction. His getting this dream match against a somewhat rebuilt Ricochet further shows how much faith the company has in him.

Even with Ricochet enjoying a slight renaissance under Triple H’s creative stewardship, he’s here to propel Hayes closer to the top of the card. So, expect plenty of “anything you can do, I can do better” feats of athleticism and skill and a relatively clean win for Hayes. We may see some interference from Trick Williams early to set up him getting ejected or late to protect Ricochet in defeat. Prediction: Carmelo Hayes pins Ricochet, retains the NXT North American Championship

Mandy Rose (c) vs. Meiko Satomura (c) vs. Blair Davenport- Triple Threat match to unify the NXT and NXT UK Women’s Championships: Similar to the tag title match, booking a unification match where you can win both titles without beating the other champion cheapens the accomplishment. But these are the decisions promoter tend to make when one of the champions lacks as much credibility as Mandy Rose does.

All due respect to Rose, who is trying her best in this role (plus, she didn’t book herself to win the title), but this trolling championship reign has gone on far too long. Unfortunately, this match seems designed for Rose to retain by the skin of her teeth again; if WWE wanted Satomura to unify the titles (which she should), it would’ve made this a one-on-one match.

Instead, Blair Davenport (f.k.a Bea Priestly) is in this to help conceal Rose’s in-ring weaknesses and to make fans think she’s either taking the pin for Rose or Satomura. That could be a red herring, though, as a Davenport win would immediately establish her as a name in the women’s division. Given how strongly the company pushed her in NXT UK, Davenport winning both belts wouldn’t shock anyone. It would also signify a tangible reboot of the brand.

Still, Rose keeping the belt is the safest bet. Prediction: Mandy Rose pins Blair Davenport, unifies the NXT and NXT UK Women’s Championships

Bron Breakker (c) vs. Tyler Bate- NXT and NXT UK Championship unification match: This match intrigues me for several reasons. Work-wise, it’s a fascinating clash of styles between the green, explosive, and powerful Bron Breakker against the seasoned, aglile, and deft Tyler Bate. As for who wins, Breakker seems like the obvious choice, but that isn’t the slam dunk you may think it is.

Again, if WWE wants to alert its audience that change is coming, strapping the rocket to Bate would certainly catch fans’ attention, and his combination of youth and skill makes him a great choice to shepherd the brand as the lead babyface, especially with Breakker’s reign losing much of the momentum it once had (thanks, Joe Gacy and JD McDonaugh).

Ricochet vs Carmelo Hayes has stakes beyond the title at NXT Worlds Collide. dark. Next

Bate will doubtlesslessly make Breakker look good either way, but once again, I’m going with the safe pick here. Prediction: Bron Breakker pins Tyler Bate, unifies the NXT and NXT UK Championships
