WWE’s weekend featured a lot of youthful talent for the future
Labor Day weekend gave wrestling fans a lot to look forward to with the WWE. NXT Worlds Collide and Clash at the Castle featured some of the best matches seen in professional wrestling all year. But for WWE, the showcases also helped highlight an additional area of growth for WWE, the youth on the roster. Both shows included some of the top performers in the company, but also a wealth of talent that can be used to solidify the future.
Across both shows, there were ten performers that were featured in top spots, all under the age of thirty. Tyler Bate, Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker, Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Blair Davenport, Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, Solo Sikoa, and Trick Williams were all on the show and in vital positions when on screen. Outside of Ripley, each one of those names was included in a title match, with Williams being the only one not in the actual match. This is important to note because it helps set the stage for what should be the future of WWE.
Each one of those names represents a pillar that the promotion can use to lead into the next generation. Hayes is a superstar in the making, with supporters already expecting him to headline a WrestleMania in the future. The same could be said about Breakker, a future star that can carry either brand. Bate, some are even highlighting that he could take on a Daniel Bryan-like role in the WWE, which is saying a lot for the legacy that Bryan has in the company. The Creed Brothers are what the main roster tag division needs, with Julius being likened to a young Brock Lesnar.
Even the women’s division, with Davenport, Morgan, and Ripley is set for what the future may be. With Triple H in charge, the women have an opportunity to take a bigger place on the card than seen in the past or other companies. With youth on their side, these ladies can be a key part of that future.
AEW has long received the credit for the youth on their roster, and rightfully so. With talented performers like MJF, Toni Storm, HOOK, Jungle Boy, and others, that’s a point of praise that shouldn’t be up for debate on the roster. But WWE has a lot of talented performers who are early in their careers and lives, with a lot to look forward to if given the opportunity to build for the future.
