AEW and WWE must find a way to bring in Cardi B
All Elite Wrestling continues to reach into a special demographic as it embraces the hip-hop community. This week’s edition of both Rampage and Dynamite featured big names like Fabolous, DJ Whoo Kid, Action Bronson, and Trina. But there was an interesting interaction online with Cardi B that reminds wrestling fans she’s always watching the product. She’s engaged with both AEW and WWE in other forms and now it’s time for either company to find a way to bring her in for a special moment.
Trina was involved with Jade Cargill during a backstage segment on Wednesday, before aligning herself with the TBS Champion after her match with Diamante. Cardi’s response was much less visceral than her interaction with Lacey Evans a few years ago, but it shows that she’s still the wrestling fan she’s always painted herself to be.
Cardi B is an astoundingly big star in today’s entertainment world. Her run through hip hop has caused her to build millions of fans, earn multiple awards, and open doors to other avenues such as acting. Professional wrestling continues to look for ways to bring in the biggest names in entertainment and right now, very few are bigger than Cardi.
With that in mind, fans shouldn’t expect the type of performance that Bad Bunny or Logan Paul have put together in WWE. Their insertion into the promotion was for a longer-term stint which gave fans those memorable moments at the latest WrestleManias. That’s where Cardi could come into play, where she could host a major event like a WrestleMania. WWE used her music to promote SummerSlam and it looked like there was a chance she was headed to the event, but that would not be the case in the end.
Professional wrestling is all about big moments, characters, and matches. But the sports entertainment world also welcomes personalities that are bigger than the industry itself. Cardi B is someone that fits the bill and would be a welcome addition to either WWE or AEW if used in the right way.
