Bianca Belair tops off what was another year of impressive development as one of the biggest stars throughout professional wrestling.

2023 begins with Bianca Belair winning the same award she earned in 2021. In back-to-back years, Daily DDT staff voters have selected Bianca Belair as the 2022 Women’s Wrestler of the Year. 2022 was a dominating year for the “EST of WWE,” and she’s solidified herself as one of the biggest names in the entire industry.

Belair beats out a tough group of women that features names across the industry. Jade Cargill ended in second place. There was a four-way tie for third place between KAIRI, Jordynne Grace, Jamie Hayter, and Toni Storm.

  • Bianca Belair: 64%
  • Jade Cargill: 11%
  • Four women tied for third place with 6%

The first quarter of 2022 was about bouncing back from horrible WWE booking. One of the worst booking decisions of 2021 saw Becky Lynch make a surprise return at SummerSlam and defeat Belair in less than a minute to take the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. In what could have been a disastrous moment for her development, Belair rebounded and remained one of the most popular women on the roster.

The unwavering momentum from the fans who support her elevated Belair to a strong performance in the 2022 Royal Rumble. Even though she didn’t win, she was able to secure the number one contender’s position to face Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38. It would be here that she’d pick up her second Mania victory in as many years.

From that point, Belair went on a run to keep an iron grip around the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. To date, she’s held the championship for 275 days. Along the way, she’s picked up wins over Becky Lynch, Sonya Deville, Asuka, Carmella, and Bayley.

Bianca Belair is surging toward stardom outside the ring

Her growth in the past year was not limited to in-ring action. Belair’s image outside the ring continues to expand. In August she was signed to WME, which is one of the largest Hollywood agencies in entertainment. In December, she competed in a WBFF fitness and figure competition where she placed first in the Wellness division and second place in the Fitness division. She and her husband, Montez Ford, will have their own reality television show which is set to debut on Hulu at some point in 2023. Other big names like The Rock, John Cena, and Sasha Banks have used the WWE to elevate themselves to other opportunities, and it looks like Belair is destined to do the same while carving out her own path.
