In the last couple of years, Tony Khan has been signing a bunch of ex-WWE wrestlers to All Elite Wrestling. A lot of the wrestlers Khan signed were hit-and-miss. Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland are a hit for AEW.

In WWE, both wrestlers had the potential to be stars, but they were released due to “budget cuts” before they had a chance to show everyone what they can do. Fortunately, Khan gave them an opportunity to become a star in AEW.

When Lee and Strickland signed with AEW at the beginning of 2022, it was an up-and-down start. Once they became a tag team, that’s when everything went in their favor. Becoming a team gives them a story where they can break up the team and have a feud with each other which will make both wrestlers’ main events in AEW.

Why do Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland have main event act potential in AEW?

Both Lee and Strickland have star potential. Lee is a giant who can do things that a guy his size should not be able to do. Wrestling bookers know that big, athletic men in the profession draw attention, and Lee fits into that space perfectly. If you believe what I’m saying, just ask Brock Lesnar and Rick Ross.

There are some fans who don’t like Lee’s promo ability but it works in its own way. I don’t mind the way he talks because it makes him unique. Strickland has a very charismatic personality and carries himself like a star. He can be a great babyface or a great heel. Strickland being a heel is great because he’s awesome at being the person that the fans hate.

He’s arrogant, cocky, and evil. He kidnapped Billy Gunn and “cut” Gunn’s finger. Strickland can adapt to whatever role. He can be a top babyface or a top heel because he is versatile. Strickland is a pro wrestler, but he is also an artist. That makes him very appealing because he’s a crossover star. His connection in the music industry allows him to bring artists like Kevin Gates, Westside Gunn, and Rick Ross to Dynamite.

Right now, Lee and Strickland are not a tag team anymore. Lee has not been on TV since Strickland did his top rope double foot stomp onto him with cinder blocks. Once Lee comes back, they can start their feud. The first match should be at Revolution. The second match can happen somewhere between the end of March to the middle of April. And the final match of this feud should be at Double Or Nothing.

What is the aftermath of the Lee and Strickland feud in AEW?

This feud will launch the two wrestlers as top acts in AEW because this will set them as future challengers for either singles titles. Lee can challenge MJF for the AEW championship while Strickland can challenge Darby Allin for the TNT championship.

Both wrestlers need to have a couple more singles matches before challenging for a title. Before Lee faces MJF, he can face wrestlers like Ethan Page, Chris Jericho, Jay Lethal, Sammy Guevara, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, etc. Strickland will have fresh new opponents to face before challenging Allin like Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Jungle Boy, Wardlow, Hook, Bandido, Orange Cassidy, Hangman Adam Page and etc.

Lee and Strickland were a good tag team. But they are better as singles wrestlers. Now that Swerve in Our Glory is no more, both wrestlers can prove that not only they are good wrestlers, but they can also be stars in AEW.
