Baron Corbin’s downfall should lead to Cameron Grimes rise on the main roster
Baron Corbin may be heading back to his broke days, but he could be rescued by none other than Cameron Grimes who is ready for a main roster run.
JBL had enough of Baron Corbin on the latest edition of WWE Monday Night Raw. The former WWE Champion and Hall of Famer walked out on Corbin, leaving him sullen and viewers wondering what’s next. Corbin’s character has struggled to maintain any interest or momentum throughout the years, in spite of his in-ring talent. If WWE is looking for someone that can be paired with Corbin to help for a short boost and introduce a main roster-ready performer – they should welcome in none other than Cameron Grimes.
Corbin has seen several character reboots, with most of them falling flat with the WWE fan base. Outside of “Broke” Baron Corbin, none really heard any type of response. The money in professional wrestling is in getting fans to either love a character or hate them so much they want to see that person face repercussions for their actions. Corbin gets neither, even though he is a more than capable in-ring worker that can keep up with any style put in front of him.
When the bell rings, Corbin can be trusted to put together a compelling match with a believable offense. Sadly, that hasn’t helped him on the main roster, even with the multiple opportunities given his way. JBL walked out on him and according to PW Insider, he’s not scheduled for further WWE programming. That leaves Corbin without a manager or support system which could create an interesting and funny storyline to welcome Grimes to the main roster.
Grimes hasn’t been seen on WWE television since November when he lost a blowoff match to Joe Gacy to bring a close to their feud. Grimes was one of the biggest bright spots on the brand, and fans were ready to see him on the main roster. Looking back at his career, he’s proven that he has the in-ring and character abilities to be a popular member of the main roster. With dream matches against the likes of Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and many others ripe for the taking, it’s time for WWE to make that jump.
Cameron Grimes and Baron Corbin would work in many different ways
The story is there with Corbin going back to his broke persona, giving him the opportunity to build on what is widely perceived as some of his best work. Grimes comes in with his big money to take Corbin under his wing and put him in a servitude position. Together they could work as a tag team for a brief run, or even lead directly into a feud between the two men. Either way, this gets Corbin into a space where he can do work that fans can slowly get behind again, and bring forth one of the best workers on the roster into the bigger spotlight.
Baron Corbin is a talented worker whose character booking hasn’t worked multiple times. If the company takes the step to put him back into the role where he performed the best, and pair him with Cameron Grimes, this could lead to developing two enjoyable members for the WWE roster at the same time.
