AEW Revolution is coming up on Sunday, March 5. It is the first AEW pay-per-view of 2023. The show will feature five title matches and eight matches in total. The show will be headlined by MJF and Bryan Danielson in a 60-minute Iron Man match for the “Triple B” (AEW World Championship).

As of Friday night, the only match for the Zero Hour pre-show is Mark Briscoe and the Lucha Bros. vs. Ari Daivari and the Varsity Athletes.

Samoa Joe (c) vs. Wardlow-AEW TNT Championship

#JoeTwoBelts has been feuding with the former AEW TNT Champion since last year. Joe is the one that initially took the title from him. He also cut off Wardlow’s ponytail. Wardlow recently revealed in an interview with Jim Ross that his long hair and facial hair were a tribute to his late father. Before being diagnosed with cancer, his father had long hair and a beard. Wardlow shared this info with his former tag team partner and Joe used it against him.

“Mr. Mayhem” is angry and looking for revenge and probably a Powerbomb Symphony or 12. “The King of Television” will drop one title and defend the ROH Television title at Supercard of Honor.

Powerhouse Hobbs is waiting in the wings to face the winner next week on Dynamite.

Prediction: Wardlow wins

The Gunns (c) vs. The Acclaimed vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal vs. Danhausen and Orange Cassidy -AEW Tag Team Championship

The Gunns won the Tag Team titles in a surprise win over The Acclaimed a few weeks ago. The former champions have invoked their rematch clause for Revolution. Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal outlasted nine other teams in a tag team battle royale to advance to Revolution.

After last week’s show, Best Friends was attacked by The Firm. They weren’t cleared to compete in the tag team Battle Royale on the go-home Dynamite. Danhausen declared that he and Orange Cassidy (who defended his All-Atlantic Championship at the top of the show) would take their spots. The duo entered last and overtook The Butcher and The Blade to move on to the pay-per-view match. This is the weirdest match on the card and had an odd build. Shenanigans are likely.

Prediction: The Acclaimed get their titles back

Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Ruby Soho vs. Saraya – AEW Women’s Championship

All three women have been involved in the AEW Originals vs. Freelancers angle in recent weeks. Even though Ruby Soho explained in a promo several weeks ago that she found her home in AEW, Britt Baker and Saraya have frequently questioned whose side she was on.

After Saraya’s match with Skye Blue, Soho indicated that she was coming for Hayter’s title. In a promo after, Hayter laid out reasons why Saraya and Soho deserved a title shot. Since she couldn’t decide which one should face her, she decided to make it a Triple Threat match.

Prediction: Jamie Hayer retains

The Elite vs. House of Black – AEW Trios Championship

During The Elite’s match against Aussie Open on Rampage, the lights went down. When they came up, there was no one there. When they were celebrating their win, the lights went out again. The lights came back up, and this time, each member of the House of Black surrounded the ring.

On the following Wednesday’s Dynamite, The Elite stood at the top of the ramp during their entrance (presumably for a promo segment) when the lights again went out. House of Black assaulted the champs while the lights were out and took the Trios titles. They cut a promo about fear and left the titles in the back, but said they would belong to them after Sunday.

Prediction: The Elite retains

Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks

This has been an ongoing story that didn’t really need to happen; Starks has already beaten Jericho. The “Wizard” put Starks through a Jericho Appreciation Society gauntlet match. The stipulation was that if Starks won, he’d face Jericho at Revolution. He got to the end before a masked Jericho cost him the win.

The following week, Starks issued an open challenge for the pay-per-view. Jericho came out to claim he’d never wrestle Starks again. “Pretty” Peter Avalon attempted to answer the challenge, but Jericho hit him with a Judas Effect. “The Ocho” then decided he would face Starks again. Starks told him he didn’t think the former champ could beat him one on one. Jericho fell for it and said the J.A.S. will not be ringside on Sunday.

Prediction: Starks wins

Christian vs. Jungle Boy -The Final Burial

In another feud that won’t end, Christian Cage will face his nemesis, Jungle Boy, at the pay-per-view. Cage returned two weeks ago after recovering from surgery. He attacked Jungle Boy and left him bloodied.

This week on Dynamite, Cage cut a promo in the ring. He said Jungle Boy was like his late father; coasting by on his looks. Cage, on the other hand, is “one-of-one.” Then, we see a video of Jungle Boy digging a grave (no, he was not burying the Jungle Boy character). Then, we see a tombstone that read “Christian Cage”. The image left Cage speechless.

On Rampage, Jungle Boy told Cage that since he was such a fan of his late father, he could tell his dad ‘hi’ when Jungle Boy buried him after their match. The match was originally a No Holds Barred match but is now being called “The Final Burial”, which seems to be a Buried Alive match.

Winner: Jungle Boy

Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page- Texas Death Match

Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page is the definition of a long-term story. This feud stretches back to last year. Then-AEW World Champion Moxley defeated Page last October in his hometown in a match where Page was concussed. In January, they had a grudge match where the “Anxious Millennial Cowboy” picked up the win.

This past Wednesday, Mox cut one of his best promos in AEW. He was dripping blood all over the steps while telling his opponent that he wasn’t built like him and there wasn’t anyone in AEW as violent as him. Page stated he doesn’t like violence in his promo, but after everything Mox did to him, he’ll be the most violent version of himself Mox has ever seen.

Winner: Hangman Page

MJF (c) vs. Bryan Danielson 60-Minute Iron Man Match -AEW World Championship

In a story dating back to last December, MJF and Bryan Danielson will finally battle this Sunday. MJF has barely wrestled over the last few months (as he said he’d do back when he won the “Triple B”), while Danielson has had multiple banger matches. MJF has mocked his opponent many times before finally admitting last week that he was jealous of everything Danielson had.

On the go-home edition of Dynamite, Danielson made MJF listen to him and threw all of the champ’s words back at him. He told MJF he deserved to lose his fiancée and that he’d never want his daughter to be in a relationship with someone like him. He said he left WWE so that he could fight. He wants to be the AEW World Champion.

I foresee the Dynamite Diamond Ring coming into play after MJF is forced to his limits by “The American Dragon”. He’ll lay Danielson out just like he did Danielson’s mentor, William Regal. Perhaps the Blackpool Combat Club will remember Danielson is in their faction and help him after the match.

Winner: MJF
