On the 11th episode of ROH, there were two title matches. Samoa Joe defended his ROH Television Championship and Athena defended her Women’s Championship. Both champions have been dominating their respective title reigns.

In the first title match of the night, the self-proclaimed “King of Television” defended his title against Blake Christian. Christian is an up-and-coming star in and out of ROH. He did his homework and worked at keeping the champ off his feet by continually going for his knees. Joe kept his opponent regulated to the mat as much as he could. In the end, Joe hit his signature Muscle Buster to retain.

ROH’s main event was Athena facing off against Skye Blue. This match marked the fourth time that Athena has main evented the “new era”. For the last few weeks, Athena has been baiting Blue. Blue didn’t back down and called the champion a bully before challenging her for the Women’s championship.

This was one of the biggest matches of Blue’s young career and she held her own. She came prepared and knew what she was up against. Athena was as ruthless as she was relentless. She threw everything at her opponent (and bullied referee Mike Posey while she was at it).

Athena and Blue tore it down and were worthy of their main event spot. Athena slammed her opponent down on steel steps and Blue followed up by kicking out of one. As prepared as Blue was, she was no match for the champion. Although she lost, Blue seemed to earn the respect of Athena. That illusion didn’t last long.

With her win tonight, Athena has now won 22 consecutive matches. Samoa Joe has held the Television title for over a year. The two have been featured heavily in the latest incarnation of ROH. They both seem unstoppable. In addition to the question “Who will dethrone them?”, fans have to ask “Which champion will lose their title first?”
