Dominick Mysterio is one of the most hated individuals in wrestling, but could he become a massive babyface?

Throughout professional wrestling history, some of the most beloved babyface characters were once so despised that the boos coming from the live audience were so loud that you couldn’t hear anything that they were trying to say on the mic. The ability to draw out that much emotion from the fans is a gift that not all wrestlers have. It takes a lot of character work and development to reach the point that fans either shower you with praise or bombard you with boos. Dominick Mysterio seems to have the WWE Universe eating out of the palm of his hand.

Following his in-ring debut, which was a street fight versus Seth Rollins at Summer Slam in 2020, Dom would begin teaming with his Hall of Fame father, Rey Mysterio Jr. This team would burst onto the scene and quickly become a duo that the live crowds couldn’t help but get behind. The pair would even pick up the Smackdown Tag Team Championships during the 2021 WWE Backlash Premium Live Event.

Dominik would officially turn on his father during the Clash at the Castle in September of 2022. During his “turn to the dark side”, Dom would go from being beaten and battered by Rhea Ripley to having almost a Stockholm Syndrome type of relationship that saw him eventually receive love and praise from Rhea as his heel turn became more concrete.

He was the ‘fake tough guy’ heel that really gets the crowd hot. And hot they most certainly became. The ‘heel heat’ Dom would receive over the next few months was inconceivable. The hostility the fans feel towards Dom has started to become so loud that he isn’t even able to speak a word on live tv due to his voice being swallowed by the mass of boos raining down from the crowd.

Now, here comes the part that I’m sure you are here for. How does Dom go from the most hated heel in the company to the most beloved babyface? Well, here is how I would do it.

The WWE knows that there is money in the Rey Mysterio versus Judgement Day feud, so there will most certainly be a time when they revisit this rivalry. Now picture the scene where Rey comes out week after week, only for Priest and Balor to beat him to a bloody pulp. Anytime Dom tries to get involved, Rhea holds him back. Imagine that happening week after week to the point that Dom starts to feel bad for his father, watching him get destroyed on a weekly basis.

At some point, Dom will have to realize that his own flesh and blood, the man that brought him into this world, is defenseless against these two bullies at every turn. There then comes a week where Dom breaks away from Rhea during one of these beatdowns and pushes Balor and Priest away from Rey, simply telling them that his dad has “had enough” of the abuse.

This all would lead to the day in which Dom finally has enough and attacks Balor and Priest from behind as they lay the boots on Rey, leading to the reformation of The Mysterios. Instantly you have a feud that has already given the WWE Universe so much entertainment but now has taken a new twist.

Once Rey retires, which must be just around the corner as he is pushing 50 and has been wrestling at an extremely high pace and level since making his debut at just 14 years old, he would then pass down his mask in true Luchador fashion to the new face of the Mysterio legacy. The amount of love and admiration that the fans have for Rey Mysterio would then be shifted to the newest top Luchador babyface, Dominik Mysterio, as he carries the torch for his father Rey, and his uncle Eddie Guerrero for the foreseeable future.

Next. Trish Stratus should get one more run as champion. dark
