Bryan Danielson vs Kazuchika Okada is a dream match like none other

Bryan Danielson challenged Kazuchika Okada for a big match at Forbidden Door II.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is an event that is all about dream matches. The inaugural edition of the show was hampered by injuries, both going into the event and coming out of the showcase. With 2023 on the horizon, fans are already getting what should be a dream match to end all dream matches as Bryan Danielson has challenged Kazuchika Okada.

Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Okada successfully defended their NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Titles against members of the Blackpool Combat Club. Jon Moxley would get on the microphone to let Okada know that he had another challenge coming his way, which opened the door for a video package where Danielson made it clear he was coming for Okada.

“You call yourself the rainmaker,” Danielson said in the video package. “Well, you step into the ring with me, you’ll be in the [expletive] desert, cause there ain’t gonna be any rain.”

Okada immediately accepted the challenge, making this official for the big June 25 card.

Okada versus Danielson pits two of this generation’s best performers in the ring together for a match that could be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. But it is not the only highly anticipated match on that show, as Kenny Omega will defend the NJPW United States Heavyweight Championship against Will Ospreay as well.

Expect this match to be on the candidate list for the 2023 Match of the Year. Okada and Danielson are both masters at storytelling, so the build to this contest should be fantastic. Even if there is a language barrier between the two, it will be clear that both men are battling for the right to be the best.

Then in the ring, these are again two of the best in the game. It will be interesting to see how much they change their games and break out different weapons needed in order to pick up the win. Think back to when Omega and Danielson battled for the first time in what was a time-limit draw. The fans were on their feet before the two men even touched each other. The same can be expected here.
