Jack Perry has the potential to become one of the most hated men on the AEW roster if his heel turn goes correctly.

“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry has been deemed one of the “pillars” of AEW and carries all the weight that comes with that. One is that he’s looked at as a potential main-event performer and perhaps a future champion. There is a range of opinions around his performance in the Four Pillars angle that was featured at Double or Nothing. One idea that’s come out of that angle is that he’s headed for a heel turn. That moment has the potential to be a huge moment for his young career and shows just how high his ceiling may be right now.

Perry’s chase for a singles title is going to be his breaking point. He lost to MJF at Double or Nothing. Expectations are that he will lose to Sanada at Forbidden Door II when he challenges for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Will he challenge for the AEW International or TNT Championships in the future? Perhaps, but if he dropped those matches to the men holding those belts as well – no one should be surprised. That is the story to tell.

But then there’s Perry’s supposed best friend, (which fans will know means absolutely nothing in professional wrestling), Hook. The same man has held the FTW for nearly one year. The same man that has never tasted defeat in his young career. Perry is going to lose another close title match and turn his focus onto the last champion he can get his hands on under the AEW banner. And that is the moment that fans will see if Perry will make the leap as a character that many want to see.

It will be interesting to see if Perry becomes the character that both MJF and Christian Cage painted him to be. The idea that his “good guy” persona is not enough to get him over the hump and seeing him embrace that will be the opportunity to do one thing that AEW continues to do well – develop characters. Seeing Perry become the selfish prick that both MJF and Cage have mastered would be a complete 180-degree change for the fans who’ve latched onto him.

“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry has a lot to offer professional wrestling and a lot of time to make it all happen. His initial run as a babyface seems to be coming to an end, and it will be interesting to see how things go if he does become everything that he claimed to hate.

Next. Darby Allin should turn on and end Sting's career. dark
