3 names who could be true threats to GUNTHER

GUNTHER is once again in the midst of a dominant title reign. As of this writing, he’s held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for 171 days. This comes on the heels of his historic 666-day run as WWE Intercontinental Champion. Gunther has been the personification of WWE champion for years and he’s realized that position today. But he’s without any serious challengers. Jey Uso is up next for him at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but he’s not a threat to the Ring General. Looking ahead as WrestleMania season nears, here are three men who could be viable challengers for GUNTHER.

John Cena

This is the easiest option for WWE. John Cena is set to hang up the jorts on December 31, bringing his illustrious career to a close. Before he reaches that point, there’s a chance for him to become the 17-time world champion, securing the top position on the all-time list. Cena’s character is doubting whether he can get the job done. Imagine that role going up against the stalwart champion in GUNTHER. The story writes itself. Cena is a favorite to win the 2025 Royal Rumble and do not be surprised if he’s the man standing across from Gunther at WrestleMania 41.

Ludwig Kaiser

This is an angle that is going to come at some point. Ludwig Kaiser looks like a million bucks, even when he’s standing next to the World Heavyweight Champion. At some point, WWE must break these two men apart, allowing Kaiser to go on his own way. When that happens, it will be interesting to see if Kaiser becomes a threat to GUNTHER wherever he is at that point. Gunther versus Kaiser would be a fantastic match and these two men have years of history to tell between them.

Bron Breakker

Another individual who has an important history with GUNTHER is Bron Breakker. WWE teased a potential feud between the two when they faced off backstage at WWE Raw. Breakker is one of the four men to take a clean victory over the current WWE World Champion. The company doesn’t acknowledge it a lot, but Breakker defeated Gunther when the former was the NXT Champion and Gunther was one step away from being called up to the main roster. WWE will go back to this angle and hopefully, it is at a time when the Ring General is still champion to add to the stakes.
