Ethan Page is great at this sports entertainment thing. Those who followed much of his work since 2006 were well aware that he is a talented performer, but what he's done as a member of the WWE NXT roster is worth more examination. He's thrived in a way that sets him up for a strong run on the main roster, as he has the potential to stand out in a way that few would have perdicted.
Everything about Ethan Page in WWE has worked. When he made the jump from All Elite Wrestling to WWE in 2024, many online critics scoffed at the idea that Tony Khan "fumbled" this Canadian performer. He saddled in that horrible Dan Lambert angle that sucked the momentum out of the room and nearly the entire promotion. Thankfully for both Page and his fans, this jump to WWE has "saved" his career.
Within the year, Page has captured the WWE NXT Championship, and is currently a double champion with the NXT North American Championship and the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion with Chelsea Green, another name who is having a resurgance. Page stands out as the most important heel in NXT, a brand that needs someone of his talents as the locker room is packed with young performers in need of his leadership. But Page shouldn't be saddled with that position for much longer, as he could step into an important role on the main roster and become an even bigger star.
There are many different spots where Page could fit on the roster. Before Seth Rollins's injury there were rumblings that he'd work as a new member to The Vision, which would have slotted him directly into the main event angle. He could work on SmackDown as well, standing out as a heel to take on the likes of Ilja Dragunov or even Cody Rhodes. Page doesn't have to be immediately designated as a midcard talent, as he could work in the main event if given the chance to take part in the right build.
Performers like Toni Storm and Ricochet are examples as to why AEW is important to the business. After mediocre runs in WWE, they made the move to AEW and were able to revitatlize their careers. Ethan Page is an example of the shift happening in the other direction. His jump to WWE not only saved his career, but gave him the opportunity to show that he has the skills to be a main event performer on the biggest stage.
