Ethan Page would be an interesting move to the WWE main roster
WWE is taking a page from real-life professional sports, using the idea of a “transfer window” to move performers between SmackDown, Monday Night Raw, and NXT without the need of a complete draft. One person to keep an eye on is Ethan Page and where he may end up. He’s done well since arriving in NXT, but one must wonder how he’d do on the main roster. The transfer window creates the opening to do so, and in the eyes of many Page would fit right in.
Ethan Page shocked the wrestling community when he made the surprise jump from All Elite Wrestling to WWE in June. His contract situation flew under the radar and no one was informed of his free-agent status. He made an immediate run to the NXT Championship, holding that title for 86 days.
What made Page such an important signing is that he comes with a level of experience and knowledge in wrestling that is beyond valuable to NXT. Page is the type of performer who could teach the NXT locker room mounds of lessons in wrestling that would help them throughout their careers. But at the same time, Page is only 35 years old himself, and he has a lot left to contribute as a performer. This is where a move to the main roster would help.
There are a lot of interesting feuds for Page on the main roster. The first that jumps out would be an angle involving Page and LA Knight. They’ve had similar career paths, but they’ve never faced off in any fashion. Think about how they’d play off each other both in the ring and during promo segments. Page’s ability to play the conniving heel would go a long way against several babyfaces on the roster, either using him to build up the mid-card or develop a run of his own.
Does Ethan Page have the star power to be a main event draw? That’s a bigger question and more difficult to see it coming to fruition on the main roster. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get the consideration. Moving Page over to SmackDown or Monday Night Raw would be an interesting move. One that would benefit him and the show while creating some fresh angles for the future.
